Bedroom is full and tight

I have a good sized bedroom. However building up stuff over the years and it's so full.

I did some cleaning last year in the autumn and I learned how to put shelves on the walls and that has helped me so much, thank goodness. However there is still a corner that is so tight. I have a chair there and I have to move it around every day just to get access into my chest of drawers.

I am thinking about making a change. Currently my beside tables are 40cm in width and I have two of them. I am thinking about changing these two bedside tables to something's slimmer. I found an option that is 29 cm in width. It would mean like making approx 22cm of space somewhere in the room and I know that's little in the grand scheme of things.

I wonder would that help. I could rearrange the charge to fit snuggly in a corner at a slant then.

What do you guys think?

Anyone else ever have problems with space. I know cleaning again is probably the only solution but I don't have time yet for a big and deeper spring clean.

Any ideas on how to make more space?

I moved into a smaller bedroom recently with less storage space and got rid of about 50% of my clothes. It's been very liberating.

I replaced the chest of drawers with one which took up the same floor space but was taller and had more drawers. I also removed an ottoman which I used to dump clothes on and put some hooks on the wall to hang up clothes which have been worn but aren't ready for the wash which freed up floor space.

It sounds like you've got extra things in your bedroom (reclining chair, desk, hobby materials) which aren't related to sleeping or clothes storage so I'm not surprised you're short of space. The only real solution is to get rid of stuff.

You could have wall mounted lights so you don't needs lamps on bedside tables. Put as much as possible on the walls not on the floor.

The last time I was in IKEA, I saw small shelves being used instead of bedside tables. Perhaps you could have a shelf on one side.

IKEA does (or did?) a bed which had shelving built into the back of the headboard.
I've seen very narrow bedside tables on Amazon.
