Garden pots for someone who knows NOTHING

Hi

I was wondering whether anyone would please be able to advise.

I’d really like to add some colour to our garden this spring/ summer. I’m hoping to add some pots to the patio but I have no idea what I’m doing.

I’d like a few plants/ shrubs(?) which last most of the year and need minimal time and attention.

Would anyone be kind enough to give me a bit of a run down about what I could consider looking for/ when to buy - just anything really.

thank you

Geraniums! They are bright hardy and usually very cheap at B& M in later march April and come in some lovely pink and red colors.

If you put a plastic plant pot inside your ceramic pot you can switch out the plants depending on the time of year.
So now you could have some mini daffodils (tete a tete) or helibores and when they have finished take out the plastic pot and put them at the back of a border to wilt and regenerate the bulbs
Then put in a new plastic pot with early spring plants like primulas, tulips, alium
and so on
(obviously keeping the pots you take out somewhere where they get rained on so do not dry out)
If you plant directly in the pot go for something long lasting like a small shrub

A hardy fuschia is a good plant that flowers for a longtime in a pot
