Is it better to leave two dogs alone together rather than one, or does it not make any difference?

Just curious really. Our dog is never really left as we both WFH, and have older children too. But thinking of getting a second dog and a friend said to me that this would mean we could leave them more.

I suppose to me I would have thought two meant mischief rather than harmony, interested to know other people’s experiences.

With the rise of offices asking staff to go back in (would never happen with me, slim chance with DH though…) I guess it’s made me think of the future and if two dogs would be better than one in a scenario where they’re sometimes left. (And for this I mean, popping to shopping / appointments while the other person is at work, as in this example two people wouldn’t be wfh)

Our second dog definitely gets separation anxiety if left completely alone. She's ok if our first dog is home too and he's fine left totally alone. So your friend is possibly onto something. We can leave them for the day but they're old and very quiet dogs. If you do get another dog try and train it so it can be left alone. It's tricky because they always have your first dog for company.
