Providing school meal drinks from home

Dds school only sell Radnor Splash still flavoured water or just plain bottled water. It's £1.05 a bottle, however I could bulk buy her favourite flavour for 40p a bottle. Saving about £125 a year.

Thinking on it though- they don't take bags into the canteen, so she'd be carrying a home bought bottle through the food purchasing section. So they aren't going to know it's her own from home are they?

Even if she puts it in her blazer pocket?

Am I just overthinking?

Yes overthinking
if they don't sell it they will know not to charge her

Oh did I not make it clear - I'd be buying the Radnor Splash they sell, in her preferred flavour.

You'd save even more by her taking a water bottle in - which is what students do anyway?!

She likes the lemon lime flavour they sell. She drinks plenty of tap water the rest of the time so I don't mind her having a flavoured water, I'd just like to spend less on it.

She can just put a bottle in her pocket & then there’s more money to spend on food. But I don't know if a teenager would be willing to do that. It might be too much effort.

ScaryM0nster · 09/02/2025 10:59

The multipack ones usually say ‘multipack not for resale’ on them

Overthebow · 09/02/2025 11:00

Can’t you buy her a different brand of lemon lime flavored water?

Doggymummar · 09/02/2025 11:02

Pour it into her water bottle or cup so she doesn't get embarrassed with questions

Put it in a water bottle so she can just take it into lunch if you are worried they will question her because of the brand.

Fucking Radnor splash. My kids get £29 a week, and always run out of money before the end of the week. Their choice. Husband is a teacher, his school have got rid of it.

JimHalpertsWife · 09/02/2025 11:12

£5.80 a day?! Jesus that's a lot!

Coffeeishot · 09/02/2025 11:18

Oh I'm.out of touch is it all about the brand ?

TimeForSpring · 09/02/2025 11:20

I'd let her take a bottle of tap water into the canteen, but have the splash at break, or home.

It is possible she will get questioned about the source of her Radnor in the canteen.

At our school, stuff brought in from home doesn't go into the canteen. Home food gets eaten elsewhere - and yes, a water bottle "isnt" food, but a bottle of flavoured water is food. Go figure!

JimHalpertsWife · 09/02/2025 11:20

Probably! No fizzy drinks etc at school so it's Radnor Splash or nothing (tap water).

Could you buy a flask and pour the home bought one in there which she can take into the canteen?

AtleastitsnotMonday · 09/02/2025 11:22

Scribble her name on the bottle and tell her to break the seal on the bottle before entering the canteen.

DollopOfFun · 09/02/2025 11:25

Just decant it into a reusable bottle. Sharpie 'Radnor Splash' onto it 😆

If she drinks plain water most of the time and you don't mind her having a flavoured one occasionally, let her have the 40p one at home.

Give her a bottle and fill it with tap water. That's fine with a meal or to sip from through lessons.

whatsinanameeh · 09/02/2025 12:01

I just want to clarify that someone said the multi pack bottles/cartons Have a sentence saying this is a multipack not for sale individually and I've just checked the Lot in my fridge and they don't say that

My son takes a partial packed lunch every day of a Radnor splash and maybe some fruit and then gets a hot meal so maybe if packed lunches are allowed you just find the smallest one possible and take the Radnor splash in every day

My boy still buys loads of the fucking things, even though I buy them for home now

user2848502016 · 09/02/2025 18:04

It's she allowed to take her own water bottle in? She could fill that with squash or flavoured water and nobody would know?
