Is this usual? 13 year old with baggy undereyes

So, DC has pretty baggy undereyes. I'd say it's developed over the past year (judging by photos). They don't look dark, just 'baggy' - they've mentioned it a couple of times as something they don't like about themselves, but my concern is more that it shouldn't be like this on a young person? But maybe I'm over thinking.

Anyway - any thoughts and recommendations to reduce?

I don't know about on children but I use lymphatic drainage on mine

Themarchoftime · 08/02/2025 21:52

Why does it happen?

Could be allergy shiners

SheridansPortSalut · 08/02/2025 21:57

I'd guess allergies. I think it's worth asking a dr.

Is it the same for both eyes? If its both, as I suffer allergies myself and was really bad as a kid, my parents took me and GP told them to buy hypoallergenic bedding. It's was a down pillow that was causing all the issues.

Doesn’t it have to be red or itchy to be allergies?

It is the same for both eyes. But they're not itchy or red...

It could be swelling around the sinuses, as pp’s have said, most likely to do with the body reacting to something. Best to check with a gp and see if there are any allergies.

Fraaances · 09/02/2025 09:19

I’d take them to the GP and talk about it.

I don't mean allergies like hayfever, it can be caused by things like dairy which causes mucous build up and drainage issues around the sinuses.

Ok, thanks. I will take him to GP. I haven't noticed any other sinus issues - he hasn't mentioned anything.

Thanks so much
