Can I do park walk/run in non running clothes?

I can’t run due to ankle problems and I hear you can do park walk during a park run now. But I don’t want to wear gym type attire as it’s freezing. Can I turn up in a big duvet jacket if I’m walking it or will people think I’m very odd.

Yes, you can wear as many clothes as you need to keep warm! If I’m parkwalking I always wear my big coat & walking boots.

You’ve always been welcome to walk at parkrun. You can wear whatever you want, the taill walker and others will be well wrapped up too.

Thank you. I’m going to get up and go. 😁

Absolutely! If you can practically move comfortably, go for it. 20 years ago I went for my first run in jeans, that’s all I had. Go at the back of the crowd, so you are not in the way and pushed around by faster runners.

You'd be better off in several lighter layers in case you get hot, then you can peel off a layer.

The duvet jacket will be a bit cumbersome and not as warm as, say 1 base layer plus a long sleeve T-shirt plus a sweatshirt. And gloves that you can slip into your pocket if your hands get warm.

i wouldn't care what other people think, actually they won't even care to be honest!

Yay! Yes just wear whatever you'd wear for a brisk walk. I overheat easily so wouldn't wear a thick coat but one I could wear open and decent pockets so gloves etc can come off once I've warmed up.

Just to reassure you, parkrunning is a very welcoming space; where they really just accept people for who they are. There are a few people who look intimidating on first appearance to the uninitiated but actually it’s a lovely community atmosphere and you will find lots of people whose first time felt scary. Have a great walk and welcome to parkrun!

Op my dh does it and I did the walk part before Xmas, I wore normal every day clothes and didn't care a jot what anyone thought of me!! It didn't even occur to me.

BTW there have been several articles recently talking about the harmful effects of chemicals added to sportswear
