Not what sure what I’m expecting from this post…

I suffer from mild depression and am on medication, but I don’t think it’s the depression as it’s well controlled.
I just can’t ever feel happy. Life feels so flat and a struggle. I have no motivation, and just can’t see the point in anything. I have a lovely family and should be so grateful but I just don’t ever feel happy.
Does anyone else feel flat?

That sounds like depression to me. Would be worth a visit to the GP to review your treatment. Sorry you feel so low.

Apileofballyhoo · 07/02/2025 18:39

Did you ever feel happy or have you always felt flat?

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/02/2025 18:40

Depression is often described as a lack of emotion, the inability to feel, so don't assume you are not depressed because you're not crying all the time.

On the other hand I think everyone feels a bit flat sometimes, especially at this time of year when it's grey and cold. It's part of life to feel 'meh' at times.

When did this particular episode start and was there a trigger you can pinpoint?

I truthfully can’t remember the last time I was happy or felt any joy. I cover it up well.

No trigger just always feel like it. I can’t ever see it changing. Will just have to soldier on. Thanks for replying x

Yes. I feel like this. I have been medicated before, but it made no difference. I blame a difficult childhood, but it's perimenoause now. I'm just riding it out, but you could seek help.

Have your anti depressants stopped working? Are you tired all the time? Could it be hormonal?

AmberElliston · 07/02/2025 20:16

Could be Persistent Depressive Disorder/ Dysthymia. Who prescribes your medication?

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/02/2025 20:19

I cover it up well.

Maybe you should stop covering it up and allow others to help you.

pimplebum · 07/02/2025 20:21

No you don’t have to soldier on
there is no reason why you should live like this
please ask your doc for a medication review
and contact C.A.L.M
depression can be over come and happiness can be part of your life

Totally agree. Made worse by grey days and a flat life. Ive always lived on the maxim 'life's a bitch and then you die'. Can't wait for the last bit.
