Anyone up? Baby won’t settle at all

DS 9 months is usually a fantastic sleeper but he will not settle at all. We’re away from home visiting family, we’re keeping everyone awake which is worse. What can I do? He’ll fall asleep on me for 10 mins then wake up screaming. Any ideas?

I have a 5 week old who has become very hard to settle all of a sudden the last 2/3 days. She seems to be struggling with wind, though I'm not sure.

Anyway, as @Difficultwill said, I've been advised that tiger in a tree hold may help. Haven't actually tried it yet though!

I've just tried tiger in the tree and she did a big burp and 4 big farts very quickly! Not sure if she'll settle but at least she'll feel more comfortable!

He ended up dropping off around 2am for an hour, then was awake until 5am and awake for the day at 6am having wet through his nappy! Probably because I gave so much milk to try and get him to sleep. Lots of coffee today.

Why can't you go back to bed for a few hours and your parents entertain him?

My parents would make sure I could catch up on some sleep or just rest.

Also on the coffee train right now! Sending hugs OP- you did a great shift x

Because they are at work!

I don't want to sound smug or anything, this is meant to be supportive in an 'I see you' and because I've been there way. I know what you're going through, BUT, when you have nights or days like this, please remember, it's one day at a time and it won't be forever.

It absolutely feels like it at the time, but they grow quickly.

Then they find other ways to exact different kinds of parental torment over you 😉

Seriously, at least when they're tiny it's for needs and not irrational demands and all you want to do is make them ok again, and get some sleep yourself, so here's to a better night tonight and a better day tomorrow 💐

CornishTeaTime · 07/02/2025 23:49

@Candle81 how's it going? Has your little one settled tonight?

Candle81 · 08/02/2025 10:12

@CornishTeaTime another night of little sleep… up at 3.30am this time. However, a tooth has appeared!

@Candle81 I knew it!!!!!!
It's through now so no wonder your little one wasnt happy. Why it always happens at night I'll never know. I hope you have managed to get some sleep.
