I just bought a guide book from the British Pilgrimage Trust (there is a sort of ‘official’ one) and used my phone. It’s very generously waymarked though.

I booked accommodation in advance, a mix of private albergues (pilgrim hostels) and guesthouses.

I carried all my things. I think a big part of the Camino is consciously simplifying life for a bit. I had walking boots and flip flops. I had maybe 3 lightweight changes of clothes and a book, a few simple toiletries, guidebook, waterproofs. Very minimal. In my experience, most people carried their bags.

Edited

How much, approximately, in weight were you carrying, do you think? I would hate to feel really weighed down, but equally don't like the idea of having to arrange for my bags to be transferred.

I am planning on doing this this year ( a 2 week stretch in France) but am attending a seminar on it (Zoom) on Feb 20th which am hoping it will have some useful information let me know if interested and will forward the link. Am sure there may be an element of selling on it, but hopefully I will be able to pick up some tips for planning etc.

Sitting here about to press the ‘book’ button and so nervous!! Nervous about the solo travel aspect (although it is with a group of mostly singletons) and nervous to use a weeks leave for this trip…ahhh and guilty at leaving my child
