I’ll shortly be having a procedure, it will be keyhole so I expect to be on my feet fairly soon after but will be signed off and not driving for a few weeks. I live on my own and I’m trying to plan ahead to make sure I have everything I need without needing to go to the shops.

Please can you suggest what might make my life easier when I’m out of action?

Hey, if helpful order a grabber from Amazon so you can pick things up easily without having to bend down.

A decent water bottle so you’re not getting up to refill a glass constantly - also easier to keep track of fluid intake that way. YY to dry shampoo and a small rucksack if arm movement is likely to be limited with crutches.

I meant like prunes or bran flakes or fruit or veg, whatever you would prefer. Just used roughage as a general term. Remember my mum bringing me grapes after my c section and me laughing but wasn't laughing later when I'd not eaten them. Fasting and then not eating much can mess up your digestion.

I agree about the fibre and ducolax (or similar), I had constipation due to painkillers (and probably dehydration in hindsight as my procedure wasn’t until mid afternoon and I threw up most fluids that evening whereas usually i‘m a 2 litres and more a day person) and the discomfort was worse than the side effects of the surgery.
