Does anyone else feel they are catching one lurgy after another?

Or is it just me?! Feeling fed up of the germs, seem to get over one cold or virus then another one shortly comes along. I try to look after myself, take vitamins etc, don’t know what else I can do!

Have you all had flu jabs? If not, get one next winter in early October. Might help a bit.

And avoid people with obvious cold symptoms.

@Cloud44 No real advice from the GP. They’ve done extensive blood tests which show low ferritin but no other issues, so I’ve started on iron. I’m also taking vitamin d, probiotics and a multivitamin, but I’m still catching everything that’s going around.

@PollyCreo I use hand sanitizer regularly and always wash my hands as soon as I get home. I’ve stopped wearing masks though. I might start that again.

It's such a basic thing. There's a huge Chinese community where I live and they all wear masks when they're sick, not out of paranoia but to prevent spreading viruses. They've done it for years, even before covid.

LovingBeingRetired · 05/02/2025 22:31

Yes me! One bug after another bug. Just when I feel better bam I'm sick again. Trying to eat better (more fruit, veg, protein) and cut out junk. Take vitamins and currently fall asleep in the middle of each day (not that bleedin old early fifties).

Complete lack of energy, upset stomach, cough, headaches, shivers, sweating, wheezy. I am quite overweight though so I don't suppose that is helping. I had covid quite bad in 2020 and have never felt properly well since then. This is the worst it's been though in terms of being constantly low level under the weather.

Starting to really piss me off now. Been going on for months. I have no energy to get things done.

Sorry for all of you experiencing the same. It is very frustrating. I have had my flu jab, I try to be good at hand washing. I work in an office where there seem to be constant germs but I seem to pick them all up and feel worse than others so I feel there is no escaping it.

I know I’ll be called a tinfoil hat wearer, however every person who says they keep getting ill, which seems to be a huge amount right now, more than I’ve ever known - have all taken the Covid vaccines…..

AndAllOurYesterdays · 06/02/2025 07:09

Yes. It's been a winter of colds, sinus and chest infections. I've never had a string of illness like it. I religiously wash my hands and take vitamins c & d. I've got small kids, work in an office and commute via train so aware I'm more likely to be exposed to germs, but this is ridiculous. It is getting me down

Octavia64 · 06/02/2025 07:14

Yes hasn't been a good winter.

Was very ill before Christmas and had to cancel a load of activities. Christmas itself not too bad and was away with family for new year but I'm in bed again with what is probably a sinus infection.

Bit fed up of it to be honest.

I don't even have small children to blame it on.

Thoughts to others who are sick.

PrioritisePleasure24 · 06/02/2025 07:55

Just to add my own non evidence to your anecdote i’ve had several covid vaccines since 21. I have been ill once in a year including this winter and i work in paeds a&e…..🙄🙄🙄

Its winter people are inside more, germs spread easily. Some viruses are more prevalent in winter Kids are being told to go to school unwell cos of attendance pressure, more people back in the office.

Randomusername37258 · 06/02/2025 09:23

Same. Like @Love51 I've had the feeling short of breath for a few weeks too. Finally seems to be clearing a bit now. I'm looking into multivitamin drips because I'm clearly run down but not totally convinced.

I’ve had two of the covid jabs. I’m open to the theory that they could have done damage. It’s quite a miserable thought, though.

Puzzledpony · 06/02/2025 20:18

I'm asthmatic and I've had regular covid and flu jabs. I've had exactly the same number of colss those year as pre covid. Ie, constantly since Christmas. Over covid and the following year, I only had covid.

Cloud44 · 07/02/2025 13:06

How’s everyone feeling?

I’m still not feeling great, so frustrated.

I am so fed up - going into day 15/16 of this crap now. Sore throat coming and going and feel awful but don’t look that ill just tired. Been drowning in tea and biscuit multipacks all week.

Cloud44 · 07/02/2025 22:10

Why does it drag on for so long? And go and come back?!

ButterCrackers · 07/02/2025 22:24

Handgel after common surfaces outside. Do not touch face when outside. The common surfaces and face will surprise you if you check this tomorrow. Wash hands and shoes off as soon as entering the house. Cough and sneeze into the elbow. Tissues one use, binned with a lid and hands washed. Do not shake hands or hug people- family ok but not when sick. Wear a mask in enclosed spaces. Open the window closest to you even just a little to get fresh air. Imho this helps to avoid germs and speeds up getting better (reducing viral load because no reinfection)

Anon501178 · 07/02/2025 22:48

Yes me! Our family have spent all but one week since xmas with some sort of viral illness- DD2, then me and DH, then DD2 again, then DD1, then me again! Trying to juggle childcare and work around it has been a bloody nightmare.

JustFeedMeCake · 07/02/2025 23:03

Yes and it's really getting me down tbh. I've been ill on and off but mostly on since October last year. It goes then it's replaced by something else similar. Terrible cough, lungs burning, headache, muscles ache all over, I'm asthmatic so that doesn't help.

Well in our family the 3 of us who haven't been eligible for covid jabs have all been ill. the 1 who got to have the covid jab again in November has been fine all winter so far.

SereneCapybara · 07/02/2025 23:19

Same here. Recently went for blood and gut tests to find out if there is an underlying reason. But my guess is, it's just a bad year for viruses. I have been ill 50% of the time over the past six months - flu, Covid, Norovirus, flu again, tonsillitis. Currently have family staying who have just got over Norovirus and I am dreading catching it from them.

annlee3817 · 07/02/2025 23:21

Yes me, I feel like I've been ill since the beginning of December, had flu, sinus problems, water infection that was hard to shift, sickness bug and now back to back colds, and some gastro thing. So fed up that I went to the docs yesterday and she's booked me in for bloods to check for deficiencies, roll on Spring! Hope you all feel better soon. I've started taken immune booster vitamins from boots

Slibberydibbery · 07/02/2025 23:26

Increase Your vitamin intake and make sure you’re eating a balanced diet and drinking lots of water. Wash you hands often And Have a window open.

I think there’s flu, covid, nv and colds all doing the rounds- neither offers immunity against each other so you could theoretically catch all consecutively.

Cloud44 · 08/02/2025 08:09

I feel I’m doing all the ‘healthy’ things I’m meant to be doing and I still seem to catch everything. It’s starting to get me down a bit. How’s everyone balancing work if you are catching lots of things?

I feel your pain, I eat well and am hot on hygiene, handwashing etc but to no avail. Luckily I wfh so it's not been an issue. But I think that working through it and not resting doesn't help.I'm so tired of feeling ill 🤒

Birdseyetrifle · 08/02/2025 08:18

Yep, I’ve been since October. I’m so bloody bored of it. Think it’s gone and 2-3 days later have another cough/cold.

I’ve been trying to get fit but I’m too exhausted to exercise now. I’m bloody miserable.
