Desirable local amenities

Always a positive selling point in estate agent's blurbs - being "close to local amenities".

Which ones were on your list when house hunting?
(I know a lot of them are very dependent on your stage in life).

Schools
Trees
Public transport - I would have hated to be in one of those places where you get off a train and then face a long wait for a bus or a long walk at the end of a long day at work
Nearby shops (i.e. walking distance) selling the kind of things you run out of or buy on impulse, and want to get quickly between big shops or on the way home
Park not too far away, with playground for the children (last time we moved they were tiny - 30 years ago, gulp)
Sorting office, post office, post box, GP surgery not too far off either - we don't have a car so having things easily accessible on foot or by public transport was very important

Schools were definitely on top of our list too.
We were fortunate to find a house equidistant to a lovely primary and an excellent secondary.
We can walk into our town centre, which still has most of the high street banks.
There is a large library; the police and fire stations are both still in operation.
There are two local swimming pools.
Public transport is serviceable I guess, I'm not a regular user but I see plenty of them around.
We have a train station with direct services into London.
And all the major supermarkets including a Waitrose and M&S so pretty well sorted on the groceries front too!

Cinema, theatres, art galleries, restaurants, pubs with good trad music, farmers’ markets, green spaces, health food shops, art centres. Public transport. Proximity to railway and bus station and airport.

I’m currently looking at moving and based on where I live currently, I want to move somewhere with close decent healthcare, decent supermarket selection and some meet-up groups or hobby groups or something to help make friends.

When we moved into our current home, it was the train station and the highstreet.

Now, with a toddler in tow, it would be schools, a park, still a highstreet - hopefully with a pub and a couple of restaurants - and likely still a train station as DH still goes into London for work.

Would also be good if there was some kind of children's activities nearby - maybe a softplay/play cafe, something we could easily get to on foot - but it wouldn't be a dealbreaker.

Train station, cycle path, green spaces, local shop, leisure centre, bus stops, local library and nearest recyling centre.

Perhaps not the answer you are looking for but many years ago I stayed at a friend's shared student flat for a few weeks.
The desirable local amenities were:

High quality vintners on the ground floor.
Gentleman's turf accountant next door.
Convivial inn and hostelry a few doors down converted from the ex local constabulary which traded under the bucolic title of "The Handcuffs."
Local family owned bistrot specialising in...

You get the picture. It was above an offy, bookie's next door, rough as all hell pub a bit down the way which used to be the cop shop, chippy within staggering distance...

I rather liked it.
