Rosacea - can you help please?

Having been diagnosed with Rosacea these past few months I've been advised to wear sunscreen from now on. I've never used it regularly before, as I don't like the stickiness of it - or that's how it felt to me.

Can anyone recommend a type/brand please. I have pale skin with freckles and am using rozex cream for the rosacea.

Skin+ me it's a subscription but worth it. I stupidly stopped and undone all the work. Now waiting my next delivery again

You can have laser treatment for rosacea . I have family who have had amazing results.

I have rosacea and I use La Roche Posay Anthelios. It’s really light and has a green tint to it which helps to colour correct the redness.

I use le Roche posay spf, there’s a range of them for different skin types. Btw I use Cetaphil face wash and avene skin soothing cream and I stay away from all of the lying products that say they are specifically formulated for roseacea sufferers as all of them (including those made by avene, Roche posay) make me flare up. Hilariously my best friend swears by the one from Roche posay! Hope you get sorted easily!

Cerave AM moisturiser with SPF 50. I don't find it greasy, it doesn't make my eyes sting and I've found it a decent base for foundation.
Struggling with rosacea myself so will watch this thread for other suggestions.

Riemann P20 sensitive face. Factor 50. You can get it from Amazon and it lasts all day unlike most sunscreens.

YourHappyJadeEagle · 03/02/2025 22:20

Also try cutting gluten from your diet. You might not need to go gluten free permanently but worth trying for a few months.

KittenPause · 03/02/2025 22:27

I buy Biore UV aqua rich from Superdrug which I like because I also hate the stickiness of SPF and I like this one

I always wear foundation too because that's another layer to protect my skin from the sun as well as evening my skin out

For other products I’d highly recommend HYPO21 skin spray. I struggled with rosacea diagnosed by a dermatologist as ‘severe acne rosacea’ for almost a year, had months of antibiotics and prescription cleansers and creams and nothing worked. I used HYPO21 twice a day for two weeks and saw a huge improvement.

6 months on and it had pretty much cleared up.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/02/2025 23:41

For sun lotion I get on well with the cos rx one and the la Roche posay one.
I think partly it's very personal what makes you flare up. Nearly everything, in my case.

I didn't know this so thank you for telling me. I shall look into this and see if it would work for me as, apart from everywhere else, I have a really large affected patch on the thin skin immediately below my eye.

I rarely eat food containing gluten. I'm not a diagnosed coeliac, but gluten foods do cause me to react with nausea, pain in my lower abdomen, and to have diarrhoea, so I just avoid it.

I used Nivea sensitive moisturiser which has SPF15.

Another one here for La Roche Posay. It’s the only one that doesn’t turn
me into a ghost or give acne

ilparadodosdoltos · 04/02/2025 13:20

Skin+Me worked for me as well. I don’t drink anymore which has helped but haven’t altered my diet in any significant way. Skin+me also do a sunblock but I like Heliocare - it has a really nice consistency I think.

Merluzzo · 04/02/2025 13:22

Have you been tested for H Pylori, OP? There’s a known link between that and rosacea and it could also potentially be the cause for your gut issues? I struggled for a couple of years with upset stomachs and also rosacea. The triple therapy treatment for H Pylori cleared everything up for me.

SwimSwim · 04/02/2025 13:25

I've had amazing results using Lacura (aldis own) factor 50 suncream daily. It has massively calmed down my skin and I only discovered it after going on holiday for a few weeks. I'd tried lots of rosacea creams before then but nothing really helped. I can now go makeup free (I used to feel I had to hide the redness all the time).
