I stepped out of the car tonight for a smoke, leaving the keys and my phone in car. Car locked and I was stranded at 9 pm on the side of the road on a long journey home.

Had to knock on a random persons door for help.

They were so good, managed to make a hook from a hanger and slide it into car window and pull the handle.

Standing in the freezing cold on a long journey home locked out of the car.

Horrible day

Any stories to make me feel better and not a complete idiot

Ps.

Got home an hour added on to journey but I got home in the end

That happened to me with my dog inside! Was going for a walk and the car decided to lock itself while I got something out the boot. Was stuck in a freezing cold park until the RAC came and rescued us 2 hours later…

Dog was NOT amused 😀

Glad you found a kind person to help you!

I was on a team at work, and the manager decided we were going to a national organisation-wide conference. We ended up being the only team there of our level of seniority (or lack thereof), and found ourselves split up and placed on tables with C-level execs and managing directors (bear in mind, we were one step above entry level).

My ADHD was unmedicated at the time and my mind was very much elsewhere, especially during the long presentations.

Suddenly, there's a microphone being shoved in my face and the facilitator was asking, "does it feel different?". I gave him a blank look, with absolutely no idea what he was asking. He pushed the microphone in my face again and said "take the microphone. Does it feel different?".

I had no idea what he meant, and all I could assume was that he was talking about the microphone. I held it, felt it, and said "no" into the mic with total confidence. Cue awkward laughter and uncomfortable shuffling, and my team looking horrified and trying their hardest not to laugh out loud. The facilitator laughed awkwardly and said "well, can't please everyone", leaving me totally baffled.

I later found out that the person sat next to me had gotten up and gave what I'm told was a very passionate account of how his team have driven organisational change at all levels, the last two years had been entirely devoted to improving the work environment; endless hours of work and thought and personal sacrifice had gone into it. The facilitator had turned to me to ask if the organisation felt different as a result, and I'd looked at him like he was crazy and said "no" with complete confidence. The poor man who'd given the presentation looked crushed.

My colleagues thought this was hilarious and would occasionally turn and say "no" to me at random right up until I left years later 🙈

@iwentjasonwaterfalls
You probably said what everyone else was thinking.
