Will anyone else be up all night?

My sleeping pattern is a hot mess!

Me and dd went to bed at 2am last night. We then woke at like 11am.
I'm keeping her up late tonight so that she sleeps through.

Dd has autism so this is typical but I want to try and at least get us back on even footing.

So I'm keeping her up until 12 and fingers crossed she will sleep through till 7am. She has the ability to sleep at school but if she doesn't, I will then keep her up until bedtime.

As for me, I don't trust myself to wake up on time - plus I won't sleep until late anyway, probably 2 again so I'm staying up all night and will nap when dd is at school.

Sorry for the long post 😅

Don’t you have to go to work?

Couldn't you set an alarm and at least try to get some sleep. None of this sounds sustainable and I can't believe you and your daughter stayed up until 2am, then slept in until 11am, which is a good nine hours sleep yet you're saying that she might not sleep through.
I understand that you're trying things out and hoping she sleeps but this just seems to be so dysfunctional.

It's a mess 😅 but its just this weekend

Yeah we were up until 2am yesterday and then slept through. But if I put her down too early she will wake up during the night - it's typical for her as she has asd.

If she wakes during the night, she will then be up until 5 or 6, and then be too exhausted for school

The best way to get our routine back to relative normality is to do this

One tiring Monday and then back to normal Monday night, fingers crossed

No, I'm struggling with the alarms in my home and need to buy a new one that I can put across the room. I will be so tired but can do it

Wouldn't you be better off trying to get some sleep at least, in case DD wakes in a few hours?

What alarms do you set? To make sure you'll wake that is.

Honestly I would prefer to sleep but the way I slept through the alarm this morning, I won't risk it

I've got the Google speaker, my phone and then the digital clock

I may get a couple of hours on the sofa if I really need it, that way I'll be uncomfortable enough to wake up easily 🤭

Ds won't sleep until 2am maybe later he has gone around the clock before but I still get him up at 7am send him to school pray he is tired tomorrow night

And no my Dr's won't refer me to the sleep clinic

And yes this is why I claim carers allowance I currently cannot physically be reliable

11am isn't a ridiculously late time to get up on a Sunday in my opinion. It's a long lie in but you haven't been asleep all day. Why do you think you now have to stay up all night?

It's the type of logic my DD with ADHD uses but it mostly backfires and she falls asleep at around 4/5am ish. It's caused no end of problems over the last few years and thankfully, with repeated guidance, she seems to be starting to understand staying up is not the solution.

Go to bed at a sensible time ie before midnight. Use techniques like a bath, lavender oil, warm milk to help relax you. If sleep is a regular problem look into getting Melatonin.

I'm not sure how old your daughter is but as the adult you need to set an example for what a good sleep routine is. Having a proper day and a proper night is absolutely key.

Edited

Dd is only 5.5

I do have adhd 😅

It's does work for me tbh, but its only a short term solution - plus I won't be able to sleep at all

Dd is in bed with me now and seems ready to try sleeping bless her

It's hard at times isn't it!

I can cope with the other stuff the asd throws up but the lack of sleep takes its toll

I am constantly having to be flexible because of it as well
