Wellington boot recommendations

Help. Please. I need new wellington boots. Happy to pay up to £80. I want/need something that will last. All the ones I've found on line all have reviews saying they were great to begin with but sprung a leak after a short amount of time. Preferably some that are lined. Please recommend me something! TIA.

I've had my Hunters for around 6 years and they're still good. Admittedly I don't wear them very often because they're a pain to get on and off, and don't go with anything except skinny jeans or leggings 😂

Following as need some too!

Aigle, mine are at least 10 years old and still going strong, and still waterproof.

@TonTonMacoute are they comfortable to wear? What model do you have?

chattyness · 04/02/2025 13:16

My grubs frostline wellies lasted me 7 years before they began to perish and leak, I'm currently wearing ariat burfords which are on their second Winter so far, they are far more comfortable and seem sturdier, they're much pricier though.

They are very boring black ones but my pair of Dunlops from an agricultural supplier have lasted for over 25 years of gardening.

The fancier ones I have had over the years have not lasted so well at all.

Hunters are crap these days really only suitable for occasional use. I wear mine every day at the yard and I've given up on expensivewellies and stick to Dunlop. They'll still about a year but are a fraction ofthe cost of some brands, got my latesr pair for £18 last March. Avoid supermarket wellies, they have some funky designs but the footbed wears through and they split in no time.

Gosh, it was so long ago.

I do know they are the model designed for walking in and are slightly tighter round the ankle so they don't flop about. They have a good supportive sole and are surprisingly comfortable. They are regularly used for muddy walks, and fit well even walking up and down quite steep hills.
