For dp?

He’s changing jobs…same industry but away from his niche, provincial bit and into something more “public!”

He’s so not a status symbol wanker but he…will need to be respected by people who are/will notice What He Drives🙄 (yes, I know!)

Economical/environmentally responsible as possible, usually only him in it, will have very high mileage.

I'd look at a VW for that money.

LOL

Not if you want a reliable car!

VWs are the pinnacle of automotive dogshit. Just like JLR tat.

Go Lexus OP. Any of their offerings within your budget would be a win.

I just changed from a VW T-Roc and didn't have a single issue with it? Service every 2 years, good MPG and brilliant auto gearbox. The Tiguan is a slightly bigger car and given the amount on the roads, a popular choice.

He’s going to be visiting a variety of sites where bonus culture/material wealth as indicator of success persists. While we don’t want style over substance as such he needs to look “credible” and be accepted as an authority in organisations that are likely to be suspicious of him/minding their manners while he’s on site but resistant to changing their practices.
He’s actually a life-long, academic, lefty and, while he very much knows his stuff, moving into the corporate, private sector is daunting and a bit alien. (Imagine Jeremy Corbyn rocking up at a nuclear power plant as a safety inspector.)

A bit of thought to how he presents is probably a good thing!
