My DS was prem born 31 weeks 2 days , he will be 37 weeks corrected tomorrow. He came home last week , I have started yesterday him sleeping on a nanny breathing pad (it's the exact one they use in NICU). Anyway today I was in the kitchen getting a water and the alarm went of, there are two alarms I guess this is like a pre alarm not as loud . I ran in the living room by the time I got in it had stopped and he was breathing fine . Should I be worried?

I know prem babies often have apena they outgrow by the time they are term , could it be that? He has had a snuffle nose for the last week as well.

Our boy wasnt prem but had a BRUE event at 2 weeks. We were terrified and I asked should i get one of these monitor devices. The consultants said no. Because they give false alarms and also the same time a false sense of security. So it’s both unnecessary anxiety and also not that safe.

I would ring your consultant and ask their advice about whether it’s something to be concerned about. But just a heads up that they might dislike the idea of the mat entirely also.

We used one and it went off maybe 5 times over a total of 7 months. It’s often down to them shifting position

We had one as ds had silent reflux and we worried about choking. It went off a few times but seemed to be due to shifting positions

Thanks everyone x I rung NICU who said it could just have been shallow breathing , but if it happens again to get him checked .

When I checked on him he didn't look like he'd moved positions.
