Dieting motivation at the end of Jan - miss sweet treats!

I’m not very tall so my maintenance calories are 1500, my daily aim is 1250 so I’m in deficit. But I have to be SO careful. Basically I can have a coffee, some porridge & fruit or chicken salad for lunch and then a smallish portion of dinner with lots of veg. I can’t have at all anything that’s a treat or I don’t have enough calories for dinner. It’s working and I have lost half a stone over the last month. But I’m feeling my will power wane…! I only have another half a stone to go to my ideal weight and then I can add a pudding to dinner which I think would make all the difference!

How are all the Jan dieters keeping their motivation?

😄 thank you. And same to you, well done to you for keeping it going for the whole month!!

I found that sugar free jelly can help with the sugary cravings, or high protein yogurts! Keep going girl, you haven't got long to go xx

That's very low, solidarity to you! I find 1500 hard so 1250 would be a struggle. What's your activity level and muscle tone like? If you build some lean muscle you will burn more calories at rest, increasing your overall calorie burn and maybe be able to allow a few extras?

Firstly…stay strong…you’re doing great. It will be worth it. Maybe more interesting low calorie recipes will help?

We are halfway through week 3 of the Fast 800, moving to 5:2 on Monday. We’ve found the New Fast 800 Cookbook by Justine Pattinson and Dr Claire Bailey absolutely brilliant. The recipes are delicious and lots are really low in calories. We could not have done this if we were just eating porridge, chicken salad and a tiny dinner. I’m not suggesting this regime….but the recipes might help you with your goals. On your calorie allowance you could have more interesting meals and have a wee bit of headroom for a treat.

Good luck however you proceed, picture yourself in the summer, wearing what you want to wear, doing what you want to do and feeling fantastic. That’s where you are going.

I don't eat breakfast which gives me a bit more flexibility at lunch and dinner.

I know some people have to have breakfast or they feel ill but is it something you could try?

Protein shakes in sweet flavours
Slushies of zero cal soft drink with xantham gum
Low cal hot chocolate
Sugar free jellies
Low cal sweets from Aldi
Frozen berries

I’m on day 29 of carb-free. Honestly, my motivation is that I’ve lost a stone this month, so whilst it’s tedious and boring and I walk past the bakery and think “oh, bread, I love you”, I only have to do this shtick for another couple of weeks rather than another kind of regime haunting me for ages. Sugar free jelly with Greek yoghurt for an occasional dessert, I’ve been drinking a lot of very hot black tea with a couple of sweeteners. It does help.

How is going everyone? I’m finding this half stone harder to lose than the previous half a stone. But motivated because I can now start to see the difference in how clothes fit.
