A couple of years ago my local council took away three bins from a common dog walking area. I assume this was necessary to cut costs however the inevitable has happened. A lot more litter and dog muck! It's SO annoying. There's a remaining bin on the main road (which seems seldom used and obviously won't be on everyone's route) nearby and the nearby graveyard's bin, the latter of which is often overflowing with dog poo bags and other garbage.
Lately, someone has been hanging carrier bags off the fence around a pond, and folk have been using those. They disappear regularly so I don't know who has taken it upon themselves to empty them, but people do seem to be using them. Good idea? It doesn't look nice but neither does rubbish and dog poo! Aside from health/safety/hygiene reasons too.
It's very annoying and I just wanted a vent about it but also to ask if this is something a lot of councils do now? Bins are so important-I asked a different council for a bin in an area I used to live in as it didn't have one and they told me it costs £600 to install a bin and then obviously the upkeep for someone to maintain and empty it, so I do understand it can be a cost issue.
