Has anyone been a victim of ‘brushing’?

I have just been… brushed! Basically Amazon account was hacked and transactions were made to various addresses in a short space of time. Very odd but expensive orders - a book shelf, a drone ect in a very short space of time but they were able to wipe the orders so when I logged in I couldn’t see them on the home page but could see the transaction details. Amazon initially refused to refund the ones that were delivered but did cancel 2 that were. I noticed after about 24 hours after seeing the payments on my online banking. Amazon have now agreed to refund all payments.

the items were sent to various addresses across the country with different names etc. I guess my question is who are these people - are they in on it? Is it worth giving the names and addresses to the police? (Ok yes, I am sure the police won’t do anything but if they are in on it I have their address so would happily send them some dog poo!) Or are they innocent victims to? Is there anything else I should be checking on my account? Have changed email and password and going to get a new bank card.

Highly unlikely the police will even look into it, it happens all the time. Good thing about Amazon is they are great at refunding you quickly and without any hassle. It happened to my Dad too, they bought a few items and cheeky b@st@rd also sent an amazon gift voucher to someone and put a note on it saying, "Happy Easter, treat yourself to something on me".

So what is the actual point in it?!

Amazon have initially concluded it wasn’t fraudulent, but have now back tracked so I wasn’t very impressed. Especially as it was 5 items sent to 5 different addresses. The addresses were then deleted from the address book.

Do they collect the items off the doorstep (seems unlikely as they went all over the place… Warrington, south wales, Edinburgh) or do they try and get a refund on another card. I have checked the cards in my account and can only see mine but wondering if there is a way to see any history of cards added and deleted.

so apparently how it works is that they find an item on discount on amazon…. List the item on eBay and then when someone pays for it on eBay they send the item from amazon. Seems like you would have to do this a lot to make any money!
