DS 7 is getting so cold playing sport it's making him not to want to play

Toying with the idea of trying to find waterproof socks and little hotty pads and hand warmers in gloves BUT, I'm sure he's not the only child who seemingly feels the cold

He had 4 layers on, had played out of goal for half the match but you could just see him getting bluer and bluer.

Has anyone got any tried and tested solutions

*Edited to say, he's had skins, vest, tshirt, fleece, Playing shirt, 2 pairs of socks and gloves on today still come off in floods of tears :-(

GK is a particularly cold position as they usually move less. Does he wear full skins? You can get heated gilets if he could get one under his kit comfortably.
Today was a very cold day. My DS16 also GK.

skiing leggings & shirt (decathlon has plenty)

I bought DD merino long johns and a long sleeved top to wear under her kit. It did help somewhat - something like this Kids Merino II Base Layer Set | Mountain Warehouse GB

While the ball is up the other end of the pitch he needs to keep moving- jogging on the spot, small sprints etc.

Yes, this is all he can do really.

I'm trying to think what my eldest son did when he was GK. That was about 30 years ago and I'm pretty sure no-one wore skins.

But OP if he's coming off in floods of tears, why does he want to do it?

If you watch professional players they are often jumping around during the match. He needs to move even if he's not actually in play ie ball at the other end

I don’t know what more you can do on pitch, but if you can strip the wet clothes off straight afterwards in the car and get a full length oody or something else really warm on them, that seems to be the fastest way to stop the shivering. We do heat the car to max as well, but that on its own doesn’t work very well.

Would they let him wear a hat?

Have a hot drink in one of the thermal cups, they stay warm for over an hour, but warm juice or hot chocolate would be at child’s drinking temperature as soon as they get off the pitch.

You can get some leggings that are fleece lined on the inside. We have pairs from Primark.

Our GK wears a snood and at half time he's dad has hand warmers that he uses for 5 mins before they go back on.

It's rubbish i don't know how the kids managed at our match today ir was so cold
