I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd1 is going out shortly so has joined me this morning & is talking an awful lot 🙄

I'm off to Morrisons in just over an hour ish. We need a proper shop for the first time since Christmas.

Dd2's staying here to do her homework for the week & chill a bit after an exam on Friday and going out last night.

When we get in, the house needs a proper clean and tidy...it's a bit of a pigsty after a busy week 🙈. Hopefully it won't take long to get into a reasonable state again!

I have no idea what we're having for tea - something quick and easy once the shopping's done is in order I think.

This evening it'll be early showers and early nights all round. I had my Self Care scrubby everything shower last night, before going out, so just a quick one tonight. Then settle down with my book for an hour before bed 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all.
I woke up at 5am with a sore back, tossed and turned for ages, hoping I would get back to sleep, but no luck.
Cancelled my class, now sat on the sofa with a cat. This might be me for the day (need to send DH to the kitchen for coffee)

wineandsunshine · 26/01/2025 10:02

Good morning all.

I've had my first cuppa and a nice lie-in.

Going to attempt breakfast wraps this morning as I saw a recipe with chorizo that I want to try out.

DH will take youngest DS to his footie match while I finish prepping school work - long term plans are changing so want to get my head around it all.

Will pop to the shops later for a Costa and it's my nephews birthday in the week so need to find something Paw Patrol related!

Then, bath, dinner and sofa for the evening!

woodymumoftwo · 26/01/2025 10:04

Starting to strip wood chip off my hall, middle floor and top hall walls🤨

RabbitsRock · 26/01/2025 10:08

LyricalGangsta “ led in bed”?!

MedusaAndHerFavourites · 26/01/2025 10:22

In bed with tea and toast. Listening to the wind and rain and feeling cosy. Poor DH is stood in this filthy weather watching DD play football.

Usually Sunday for us - DC sports all day, laundry. Will have a roast chicken later and possibly a family film.

Crunchymum · 26/01/2025 10:24

Happy Sunday everyone.

Hope your DD had a lovely birthday lucysmam?

No real plans here as we're set to have really heavy rain from Midday.

Just waiting for food shop to arrive. Older two DC have dug out a load of toys so the living room is a tip but I think we're so close to the end of toys / playing age so I'm giving them free reign.

Little one is colouring so the kitchen has about a million pens out. I kind of love the mess of children. Makes me feel loads better as at least they aren't on the iPad 😅

DP will be at work until 5pm so it's just us today. I've got a few chores to do (uniforms, clean bathrooms) and the kids all have homework but other than that we'll be having a relatively low key day.

I'll roast a chicken later and we'll have with salad, dips and brown rice (maybe some garlic bread on the side too). I'll have enough left for packed lunch tomorrow.

A few episodes of Young Sheldon later and an early night is the plan.

Hillrunning · 26/01/2025 10:35

I love these threads. Especially hearing what other people consider to be quite vs busy. Such a nice glimpse into everyday lives.

I stayed in bed till 9 which is rare for me. Then took myself out for breakfast at a local bakery. Back home now, waiting for my headphones to charge so that I can start my ritual of an audio book while I do a pottering clean and tidy of the house. At some point I have to sand a few cupboard doors. I'd also like to read my book and make musaka.

Topsy44 · 26/01/2025 10:40

Good morning Lucysmam and All

On day 4 of a heavy cold so won’t be doing that much today. Had a coffee and toast and now sitting on the sofa under a blanket with DD and cat purring away next to me. DD had this cold last week so I know the pattern of it and hopefully will be feeling a bit brighter by Tuesday.

Need to call my elderly Mum in a bit and then have school shirts and bedding to do. Also need to pop out to local shops to get some cereal which was missed off online shop.

If I’ve got any energy later I might make a start on doing a bit of decluttering of my wardrobes but if cold takes hold it will be a movie and Lemsip. Easy tea tonight and then Call the Midwife.

RabbitsRock · 26/01/2025 10:42

Hillrunning I love moussaka

StormingNorman · 26/01/2025 10:44

Lying on the sofa binging the new season of Dubai Bling. I need to go to the supermarket later so may grab a coffee while I’m out.

RainbowWife · 26/01/2025 10:54

Morning Sunday gang!

Usual lay in while DW walked the dogs til 9:30, then sprung out of bed and dressed and downstairs as the dog groomers are coming any minute so I didn't want to be lounging in my pjs today when she gets here. I do love a lazy Sunday morning in bed though. I've tidied the kitchen and had a nice coffee and a cinnamon bun bought from Ikea yesterday.

DW out for the day with her grandma so I'll be on my own which I don't mind, will have a day reading my book with a lovely candle lit I think! And potter a bit I'll make dinner when she's home, a Gousto meal, think it's baba ganoush and chicken.

braaaiiins · 26/01/2025 10:55

Third (or maybe fourth) coffee drunk and breakfast eaten. Sally Pointer making soap on YT in the background while i write my Open University essay that's due in on Tuesday. It's icy and treacherous outside, I'll be staying warm and safe indoors as much as possible.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 26/01/2025 11:06

morning all, we’re on our first full day of ski/spa break in Austria (we live in Switzerland so it’s school holidays already). It was snowing this morning, so following a leisurely breakfast we’ve spent the morning in the pool. DH is taking DS skiing after lunch and I’ll be in the relaxation room doing some knitting. I might take a sauna and book a facial and massage for later in the week or I might not move except to get more tea…we’ll see.

DilemmaDelilah · 26/01/2025 11:18

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone! I woke up at 3am and didn't manage to get back to sleep, so no lie in for me today, although I did have a bacon sandwich. I have been quite productive, for me. Sorted out some washing, cleaned the dining room, laid the table for tomorrow when my sisters come to lunch (we will eat in the kitchen today) and sorted out some washing. I'm having a little sit, then I will dust the sitting room and polish the (glass) coffee table.

DH is doing a full roast chicken dinner for lunch today - we usually have our main meal in the evening but we will be out getting chorister grandson from the cathedral after evensong tonight so no time to do a roast and I need the chicken cooked so I can offer drumsticks and thighs as part of tomorrow's lunch. DH will hoover and clear the kitchen later, and I will give the downstairs loo a swish round before I go to bed this evening. I have a 9.30 appointment tomorrow morning, but I should have time to give the kitchen a clean before my sisters arrive. It won't be spotless, but it will definitely need a good wipe down after DH's roast today.

My shopping has not yet arrived, but Sainsbury's tell me I am going to get everything on my list, with 2 substitutions. They are sending 4 cheese topped rolls in place of...... 4 cheese topped rolls, and 6 crusty rolls in place of.... 6 crusty rolls. Who'd have thunk it!

The only other thing I have planned is a nap this afternoon.

frozendaisy · 26/01/2025 11:23

Morning, looking at afternoon all,

haircuts, deliveries, homework, roast today.

beet get on it

PermanentTemporary · 26/01/2025 11:30

A late morning all. A luxuriously quiet one for me today. Lovely lie in once I'd fed all the cats, then dp changed the sheets while I was in the bath with a coffee. Now I'm at my mum's nursing home but she's dozing so I'm sitting peacefully looking at the rain.

I'm going to go to the bookshop down the road for a holiday read, because I'm also off to Italy tomorrow. Then home for a chunk of work before the holiday. I'm doing an orzo tomato chilli thing for dinner.

FayKnights · 26/01/2025 11:41

Morning (just) Sunday Gang!

I was up at 6.30am to let the dogs out for a wee, and stuck on a slow cooker porridge which was ready by 9.30 🤤 I spent the time it was cooking snuggled back in bed!

Will be doing the usual walking of the pups then back to cook a roast and stick on some washing etc etc. I might make a school dinner tray cake with lurid icing and sprinkles for dessert.

Have a lovely day all. Very jealous of those on holiday or talking about booking, you lucky things - enjoy!!

spacepies · 26/01/2025 11:58

Morning all
Had a potter about the kitchen tidying already and rebooted the laundry.
Now back in bed with a cappuccino finishing my book - Pineapple
Street- can highly recommend if looking for an escapism piece of fluff book.

Will get up in around an hour - bliss - and get ready to drop DD1s at a friends and then go on into town with DD2 for a mooch in shops as she still has Xmas money burning a hole in her pocket. We’ll probably get a lunch/coffee put them back home to tidy/laundry put away.

Simple dinner with a film tonight and school uniforms to sort.
Early night to continue watching Black Doves in bed - I’m hooked!

Have a good day everyone.

I just read this! Enjoyed it, particularly as we lived in Brooklyn Heights for twelve years. Found the ending pretty underwhelming though. Curious to know what you think?

Ooh so are the Fruit Streets real
in Brooklyn Heights? I had assumed they were fictional for the book.
Not quite finished yet. I just wish there was more “Darley” time - she feels like the most interesting storyline to me but she doesn’t get as much air time as Georgiana or Sasha.

But it’s wonderful escapism.

They're real. The only things I really noted as changed were the Henry Street School, which is a stand-in for either St Ann's or Packer Collegiate, take your choice. And for some reason (are you up to chapter 12 yet?) the street Cy Habib lives on is written as Gardner Place, when it should be Garden Place.

Curious to know what you think of the end. Feel free to pm me.

And, yes, very enjoyable escapism!

mondaytosunday · 26/01/2025 17:39

Not a lot. Pouring with rain. Spent the last three days away so all I did so far today was take care of the pets and get a Tesco delivery. Light bit of tidying and some crochet.
Having chicken Kiev with baked potato and toasted veg for dinner and will watch some TV while finishing my project.
I feel Sundays are my day off from most things- no pressure to do anything at all.

DilemmaDelilah · 26/01/2025 21:45

@Whattheduck we binge watched Patience last weekend. I enjoyed it a lot and I'm looking forward to another series, if there is one.

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 27/01/2025 11:24
