Two plates of lentils and veg - still famished but whyhl

I don't know what's going on with me at the moment: I've had two full plates of lentils and vegetables cooked together in yoghurt and I'm still starving. I even added a third of a pack of feta to top the second plate in order to add protein but that still didn't help.

I've got an apple crumble (serves two) in the freezer and I'm thinking of putting it in the oven and polishing the whole thing off with double cream. I'm not ill and I ate normally today. Just not sure what's going on, why would I suddenly feel ravenously hungry? Shall I crumble and have the crumble or stick it out? 🤔

If I was really hungry I’m not sure I’d alight on a two person sized dessert as a sensible answer. I say to my kids the way to know if you’re actually hungry is to consider whether you would want something nutritious but not exciting. If you’d enthusiastically polish off a cheese sandwich or carrot sticks and hummus then fine, you’re hungry and you should eat something filling and nutritious.

If you’re just fancying pudding then by all means have some pudding, but that’s not the same as being properly hungry. Though I’d just ignore it and go to bed at this point, I’d get heartburn and indigestion eating a massive pudding at 22:00!

And I agree with the poster above it might be hormonal, I turn into the hungry caterpillar for the couple of days before my cycle starts.

Lentils and veg sounds very boring and unsatisfying.

I would have a big glass of water (or realistically in my case a can of Pepsi max) get up and do something for 20 minutes and then if I still wanted the crumble I would eat the bloody crumble.

Plus lentils, and veg isn’t the most filling thing in the world. A small amount of carbs with it probably would help it be more satiating.

You need an omelette.

Update: the water people were (mostly) right, it's taken away most of the hunger though a bit remains so I'm going to power through a helping of crumble as well when it's done.

Isn't the human body weird sometimes?

Are you eating enough good fat if you're not eating rice with it?

I find lentils and chickpeas very unsatisfying even if the serving is supposed to supply the correct amount of protein and calories for a meal. I'm left absolutely shaking with hunger - I think my body just doesn't extract the nutrients fully. I need animal protein to feel satisfied.
