Wedding guest - button hole?

Do wedding guests still wear a buttonhole/corsage these days or do we not need to bother? It’s been years since we were last at a wedding!

Bridal party only, usually these days.

Although we had them at my very good friends wedding a couple of yrs ago, a handful of 'not quite bridal party but might as well have been' if us.

Not in my experience 😂. Weddings we were at last year the men all had buttonholes and the women corsages

i think it depends on the wedding really. the 2 i've been too recently, i was MOTB and wore a button hole at 1 and the other i was SMOTB and button holes were neither provided or required (i asked if i needed to get one and was told no).

its my understanding nowadays, its main the Groom, Best Man, Ushers and Fathers that have one, and the women don't tend to bother anymore.

I think it must have been the eighties since I last went to a wedding where all guests were given a button holes, usually pink carnations, I'm kind of nostalgic for it!
But recent weddings I've been to it's only close family / bridal party, ( groom, best man, ushers, parents and perhaps grandparents and siblings who have button holes.

I've never known a guest providing their own, the bride and groom have provided them if they have been at weddings I have been too. Last one was a decade ago though.

Usually provided for the bridal party, not all the guests. Too expensive these days.

Thanks. We won’t bother. Previously weddings I have attended, guests wear and provide their own. I am in Scotland though so may be it’s a Scottish thing to do.

That's so interesting! I got married last year (England) and we provided button holes for the groom, groomsmen & the male members of our immediate families. None for the women. I would have found it strange if a guest would have shown up wearing one, though I probably wouldn't have noticed! I didn't realise this was a thing

Same here-I’m in Scotland and have never heard of being provided with one. Dh usually gets sea holly as it always looks good with a kilt and I get something to go with whatever I’m wearing
