Need some inspo for a night in with a film!

Just watched Hairspray for the first time in years with DD7. It was absolutely brilliant and very witty.

I saw Hairspray at the theatre last week, it was excellent. Divine was amazing in the movie.

At the moment I'm really hankering after Oliver and The Sound of Music.

Also the perfect time of year for Groundhog Day.

Did you know Oliver is on in the West End again? I’m going on the 22nd February.

@PersephoneSmith

I did not know, but I will check it out!

Delicatessen,
Leon: The Professional and Les Visiteurs, both star the wonderful Jean Reno.
Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources, two of the few films that are as good as the books imo.
Pulp Fiction
Goodfellas
My Cousin Vinny
Some Like It Hot
Shenandoah
Tremors (don’t watch any of the sequels, and the same goes for From Dusk Till Dawn - they are truly dreadful in both cases.

Old but... Fried green tomatoes at the Whistle Stop cafe.

Haven’t seen that film in years. I loved it when I was younger.

sugarapplelane · 25/01/2025 22:52

Dead Poets Society
The Goonies
Lord of the Rings
Sunshine on Leith

Dark Waters. On iPlayer at the moment.

Just watched this tonight and thought it was such a good film.
Also, as a couple have mentioned, dead poets society, Jean de florette and manon de source, which I rewatched recently.

PollyCreo · 25/01/2025 23:38

The Banshees of Inisherin. Or, The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
I’m in that sort of mood…

Yeah like what mood are you in OP?

Dog Soldiers.

Sausages 😆

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 25/01/2025 23:59

@Scorchio84 everything and anything! Tend to lean more towards classics and I love a good nazi film.. but has to be a compromise with DH who likes shouty shooty American thrillers Confused

You may enjoy Number 24 about The Resistance in Norway.

The Martian. I saw it years ago but I've just read the book (after reading Project Hail Mary which I loved) and want to watch the film again. It's about 2.5 hours long though so need to factor that in!

Scorchio84 · 26/01/2025 12:55

@RobertJohnsonsShoes I hope you found one... mine is always "Jaws" or musicals, or Halloween

I'm no help 😆

SchrodingersTwat2 · 26/01/2025 12:57

Motorcycle Diaries

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 26/01/2025 13:24

@Scorchio84 we watched the time travellers wife, but I couldn't watch it past the point of him dying so had to turn it off. Perhaps not a film for the recently bereaved...

Tonight will be one of the suggestions on here!
