Cleaning after mice

We've had mice for a month now, we're in a flat, 2nd floor out of 6 floors.

Before anyone asks about pest control, we called them out and they won't do anything because it is a flat, and they've said they would need every tenant in the building to arrange pest control otherwise they'll find new ways to come back in.

We're actually due to move out next month, but I'm wondering if what I'm doing is ok enough, we have a cat, and I'm using dettol/zoflora and washing up liquid on the floors where the entry is ( bathroom ) this is where they're getting in.

I'm not sweeping in the bathroom and I'm just straight mopping, I usually wear gloves but ran out, and today I was cleaning and some of the mop bucket water got all over my hands whilst I was cleaning, I did wash my hands but we have also ran out of hand wash ( middle of packing everything is all over the place ) so I'm using washing up liquid until I can get out later today.

Will this be effective enough to clear up after the mice? We caught 2 today in traps, after a week n half of nothing, we've caught 10 in total.

Also will washing my hands and arms with fairy and hot water be enough to kill any potential germs? Or am I just BU and need to calm the f down? Because I'm scared of the diseases they carry ( HantaVirus )

The mice we caught today was the biggest we seen also, I think the small ones are being gotten rid of and now the big ones are coming in, which I'm shocked they'll even come in considering the cat lives in the hallway at night ( by choice )

You'll be fine. You might want to use Jeyes fluid if you're worried.

10 - that's quite an infestation. The freeholder/management company needs to deal with this.

@PrincessofWells

It is Housing Association, so they won't do anything. They're well aware of the situation, and they've received a few complaints from me, but still hold cards that there's nothing they can do.

I did think of jeyes fluid, but was rather worried about the cat.

Jeyes should be fine with cat, it's used by farmers for cleaning hen houses and stuff.

Send a formal complaint to the HA using their complaints process, its the only way to get action sometimes, mention the Ombudsman, that usually focuses them. It's their responsibility - how these social housing providers get away with stuff - they're worse than private landlords 🙄

Don't use jeyes around a cat

I already mentioned all of this to them, and I also said I would be only paying half the rent as we're only able to use half the house at the minute, as I'm disabled and I can't really get around to clean up after them several times a day, and I have DD, but they're not interested at all.

@boulevardofbrokendreamss No. I'm not going to use jeyes fluid as I've done some research and it is very toxic to cats.

@PrincessofWells

We're actually due to move into a private place ( through letting agents ) as I genuinely cannot deal with it, 1 or 2 is fine, but cleaning up after dead mice everyday is not something I can keep doing.

And I'm well aware we can get them in a house too, but atleast there I could get pest control out.
