Range Rovers - are they really that unreliable?

Really fancy one as my lease is nearly up on my current car, but they have such a bad reputation for always needing to be repaired.

If you have one, are they really that bad?

I had an evoque a few years ago and it was without doubt the least reliable car I ever had. It spend weeks at a time in the dealership when they tried to work out what had caused the latest fault. I had it for around 4.5 years and in the period after the 3 year warranty expired they did a lot of the repairs on ‘goodwill’ as I think even they realised what was happening wasn’t right.

on a good day I loves the car and it particularly reassuring for driving in snow. However, when it’s out of action 50% of the time those positives are irrelevant really.

Conversely to PP, my evoque was wonderful and I had zero issues.
However, I got it from new and replaced it after 4 years.
I still miss it

What's putting me off another is the cost of car insurance on a Range. It's crazy.

Op Have a look on you tube there are many videos on the reliability issues and cost!

The post 2019 evoques are pretty good. The new range rover not so much. The velar isn't a bad compromise. They are all lovely to drive.

Had a 2011 Evoque was really reliable never broke down. The driver door handle went before I got rid of it last year. Would recommend in fact I'm going back to an Evoque as soon as I can. Lovely car.

Yes, but a new one will come with a button to press to summon the AA. As long as everything is covered by the lease/warranty you will not be out of pocket. A set of new tyres will cost over £1k. Servicing costs are astronomical and if you do have a problem you may be without your car for weeks, the technicians are not known to rush a job.
I think because most are leased and the customer isn’t paying they don’t feel the need for customer service.
However, if you own the car they can’t do enough.

Range rovers are vulgar these days.
