Cheltenham food and drink festival, Chelmsford foodie festival or neither?

Hi,
My husband and I have a child free weekend on the 21st of June.
We've done a lot of city breaks so fancied something like a festival.
Both Chelmsford and Cheltenham are on that weekend.
The websites look good but I'm not so convinced with the reviews.
We live in Yorkshire so it's a fair drive for both.
We're arriving Friday night and leaving on Sunday.
Thank you! 😊

I don't know anything about Chelmsford but I do about Cheltenham.
The food and drink festival is condensed into one location and on its own not worth travelling far for in my opinion. However, Cheltenham itself is beautiful and there is lots to visit if it's your thing.
The spa water at pitville pump rooms being the main one. The park in which the pump rooms is set is beautiful, especially in June!
Montpellier is where the f&d festival is held and us about a 20-30 minutes walk from the pump rooms.
There are lovely wine bars and restaurants in the Montpellier area.
Out of all of Cheltenhams festival ls I would put f&d low in the list, citing the jazz festival and literature festival as my top choices

Thank you that's really useful to know.

Sadly, this is the weekend we have as my husband only gets certain weekends off work and it aligns with childcare.

Cheltenham sounds loveky though and I will look into it further. 😊

Cheltenham is a lovely place to visit but I would not travel more than a few miles for the Food and Drink festival. It used to be very good, but now it's just a glorified food court (very pricey food) with not enough seating if the sun is shining.
It would be worth a visit if there was a chef or event that you booked into, spent part of the weekend there (you can get admission for the whole day so can go in and out) and then the rest of time visiting the Cotswolds villages.
