What do you normally do? Just having one of those days - what do you normally do to make yourself feel better and hopeful on such days?

Get out in the fresh air and daylight. Just a ten minute walk would do it.

Us too. Nothing better.

Rant to dh and play with our puppy. This helped me yesterday after a particularly soul destroying day.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 23/01/2025 15:14

Five minutes fresh air in your situation. A quick jog if that was practical. At this time of year I stop off on the way home and buy myself a bunch of daffodils or tulips, they always cheer me up and don't cost much. Just thinking about doing it keeps me going until home time.

Egg on toast, brisk walk even if it's just local streets, sometimes listening to an audio book or podcast. Take hot drink in a travel mug.

Rinkadinka · 23/01/2025 15:35

When I had a ‘proper’ job I used to work out how much I was paid per hour and then ‘work waste’ that hour by doing things I wanted to like filing my nails in the loo, reading a mag in the staff room, Google jokes then go tell a colleague, offer to make hot drinks (even though I don’t like them). Basically anything to feel like I was sticking it to the man. It’s a bit different now I’m home with a toddler!

Sorry OP. 15 mins walk near nature. Yoga with adriene for sadness. And make myself dance to some tunes while making a treat meal/snack (but beware too sugary can affect your mood negatively)

RuralSage · 23/01/2025 15:59

watch funny cat videos on Youtube

madamweb · 23/01/2025 16:04

Get down to the beach for even 5 minutes, or walk in some woods.

Watch some comfort TV or read a book that's an old favourite

Wear some pretty or sparkly jewellery (doesn't have to be pricey) or a little bit of perfume

Cuddle the dog

Watch videos of tortoises on you tube etc Grin

A long soak in bath and an early night.

This was me yesterday. I wasn't sure why I was feeling out of sorts but when I told DH over dinner and talked about my day I realised what it was. Then I went and watched The Traitors in the bath.

MrsSethGecko · 23/01/2025 20:04

A walk and a pork pie. Not necessarily at the same time.

whatisforteamum · 23/01/2025 20:41

Walk home it's over a mile.
Hot coffee
Curtains closed
Bath
Cuddles with my cats.
Early night

@TeenLifeMum unfortunately ranting to husband not an option- he is not the supportive listener kind. He will probably want me to make a list of options and present to him.

Thank you all for your suggestions- I went for a quick walk during lunch. However upon getting home realised I’ve left the laptop charger at work- so will have to do an hours drive each way tomorrow to get it - but determined to fit in a proper walk during lunch.

Im feeling rather overwhelmed and to top it work has got increasingly stressful- feel like I want to hold someone’s hand and have a bloody good cry.

listening to music and practicing box breathing. ( both from the suggestions here) and off to bed.
