Please recommend me best ear plugs to block out snoring! (Not Loop quiet)

Anyone found a decent brand of ear plugs to block out snoring?

I first got the Loop quiet and initially they worked well but they don’t block out much of the noise now… I’m wondering if they’ve lost their shape and I need to buy a new pair or just try another brand?

Separate bedrooms not an option sadly but any ear plug recommendations would be appreciated!

I'm not even blocking out snoring. It's everything I seem to have hyper sensitive hearing and a very light sleeper.

Not suitable for small ears

We use 3M ones they use on construction sites. Mostly they do the trick

Sympathies here. I'd buy this selection pack of ear plugs and find out which sort work best for you.

Also, a simple thing, but it does help. Sleep upsidedown if you can't be in a different room. The combination of being away from the snorer's head and decent ear plugs will improve things. And do get your partner to sleep on their side, one pillow only and with their chin lifted slightly.

I got one of these packs and it was very worthwhile to find out what suited me best. I'm not dealing with a snorer, but I am a light sleeper and have used silicone foam earplugs for years.

I use soundcore sleep earbuds and use a sleep story to fall asleep once asleep it switches to soothing sounds (which can be changed). I use them to help my insomnia but they are also pretty effective of blocking out snoring

coffeeandsleep · 24/01/2025 22:34

Thanks @tigger1001 I also have bouts of insomnia so that could be a good option.

I looked up the Snoozeband - I think it would only block out snoring if you constantly play audio eg white noise- rather than just blocking the ears if I’m understanding it correctly

Also agree with pp sometimes I just sleep upside down, DH has all the pillows to support him and I do try and keep him on his side not his back, but frankly, this is a marriage wrecking problem and I feel for all of us to experience it. I'm really at my wits end because yes, I can do all the sound, but the trembling and shaking and guttering, talking of people who refuse to get bloody help or he can't be helped really seriously impacts the mental health of their partner

You can tell I've just about had enough

This one sounds like sleep apnea for sure

I thunk it's snooze band playing something over the top of ear plugs x

SkaterGrrrrl · 24/01/2025 22:54

OP my DH is a serious snorer. I have a snooze band and download a white noise playlist on Spotify.

Having tried titanium earplugs (and many other kinds), I am now using soft silicone earplugs called Ear Hub - they can shut out 27 decibels.

TiredyMcTired · 01/02/2025 23:41

To be honest OP, I don’t think any earplugs fully block really loud snoring. I use the Howard Leighton Laser light ones from Amazon (35Db) - the red and yellow ones. I tried EVERYTHING to block out the noise, including every type of earplug going. We now sleep in separate rooms as I had really bad insomnia and my health started to suffer. It has taken months to begin to turn around my sleeping pattern. We’re currently having a stand off about going on holiday, as I said we’d need separate rooms because I am not ruining a holiday by having to share a bed and listen to him snore so loudly even decent earplugs can’t block the racket out.

One of the main problems with really loud snoring is the vibration, no earplugs can block that out…

I know you said that separate rooms is not an option for you, but could you get a good sofa bed maybe?

shockeditellyou · 01/02/2025 23:45

I never found earplugs that blocked snoring out (and believe me I tried many). The noise is too low frequency for most ear plugs to be effective - like a pp said, the vibrations travel in the same way as bass music.

Separate bedrooms here at other ends of the house.

TiramisuThief · 01/02/2025 23:51

I buy the boots wax ones in bulk. I mostly have to try and sleep before DH does or he keeps me awake, once I'm asleep I don't wake up.

But if I'm at the point of feeling the snore vibrations in my head there's very little chance I'll get to sleep. Fortunately we have a spare room.

Holidays i have to go to sleep first. No way round it. I remember vividly one night in a premier inn where I slept on the floor with all the pillows piled on my head just to try and muffle the noise enough.

Nat6999 · 01/02/2025 23:56

I use these from Amazon, they block out all noise. I sleep in them.

I have small ear channels and all of them hurt me. I got this pack:

Which is specially for women, so smaller, and found that I like the wax ones that just sit in your outer ear. They don't block it all, though you can squish them in more so they block more, but they're pretty good. I do find in the morning my hair on the side I've slept on has got stuck in them but it's a small price to pay.

But the pack gives you a few to try at a reasonable price.

Thanks - I have similar issue with insomnia at play too. We have to use sofa bed when it gets really bad and I need to catch up on sleep. The vibration is part of the issue. I tried switching to a smaller earplug size (loop) and it seems to do a better job but my DH snoring has not been as bad in the past week, so not a true test. I feel for everyone going through this - the impact to sleep and health is hard!

Home Bargains do a silicone ear plug thats brilliant. I know coz of noisey neighbours

BusterLady · 02/02/2025 18:42

Also they are only £1.99

Wonderknicks · 02/02/2025 18:43

I use the Quies ones after seeing them recommended on here. Not perfect but they suit me better than any others that I've tried. I wear them for a few nights.

Heronatemygoldfish · 02/02/2025 18:58

I also use the Howard Leight pink and yellow ones. I used to have to get them in bulk if I was ever in the US but thank goodness for Amazon now. I can hear my DH through the ceiling. I gave up years ago as I'd need earplugs, noise cancelling headphones AND white noise to shut the sound off. I now permanently sleep on the sofa, still with the earplugs... good luck OP...
