Is Tesco bulk buying permitted

Even though I'm able to put a bulk amount of certain items in my online basket, will the Tesco manager probably prevent me from buying that many? There's an offer on and I could save loads of money.

Most offers have a limited number of items per customer. So as long as you're under the limit you'll be ok

ThatUniqueKoala · 22/01/2025 15:20

I bulk buy from Tesco on my usual monthly shop, Unless it's a high demand product or there's a shortage, I can't see why it would be a problem

BeaAndBen · 22/01/2025 15:22

If they have a limit it’s usually stated.

It usually says limited to 1,2,3 per customer. Or only allow you to put a max number in the basket.

Depends what you mean buy bulk buying really.

24 tins of baked beans - I would think this would be fine.

250 tins of baked beans - probably not.

It will say on the offer limit of xxx per customer. That's rhe limit

wassailess · 22/01/2025 15:44

If you try to put 12 in it will stop you. It's also to do with the weight/capacity of the delivery van.

If you try to put too many big bottles of anything in it stops you.

modernshmodern · 22/01/2025 15:46

It would also depend on availability on the day. You may end up with 4 olive oil and the rest veg oil!

Growsomeballswoman · 22/01/2025 15:49

Which offer is it?

HawkTUAHspitonthatthing · 22/01/2025 15:57

I am sitting here imagining the OP using the bottles to slide down her hallway, that or to roast her whole family!

why so many!??!

I'm guessing because they're cheap, she has storage and spare cash. We do that and save a lot of money.

Olive oil will go off after about a year. Ask me how I know this and it tasted so bad
So only buy what you can use in a year

MeanderingGently · 23/01/2025 08:58

12 bottles of olive oil should be fine unless it's on special offer and they've set a limit on it - in which case, it will say and stop you putting that number of items in the basket.
I used to buy from Tesco for a school boarding house. We'd be ordering things like 20 packets of cornflakes, 50 packets muesli and so on. At Christmas there would be 20 bottles apple juice, 30 bottles red grape juice, 20 cartons orange juice....you get the idea. The weight was very heavy and they never quibbled, 30 or 40 crates off the van, no problem. So I can't see why 12 bottles of olive oil is going to worry them!
