Day out for teen AND young kids

DH is away this weekend and I wanted to plan a nice day out with my 3 DDs (ranging from 3-15). What would you do to keep all 3 amused for the day? I wanted to do something a bit out of the ordinary but my imagination seems to be failing me. Any ideas?

please let this be a cautionary tale to anyone considering having such an age gap! It’s so hard to please everyone.

Whereabouts are you based?

Hampshire

Ask the 15 yr old for ideas!
The 3 year old will probably enjoy just hanging out with everyone.
Are you near London? Lots of places there that a mixed age group would enjoy.
Aquarium
Zoo
Castle
Museum
Swimming
Horse riding

check the weather forecast for your area before you plan anything as there's some horrendous weather coming in over the weekend!

Have you been to Beaulieu? That's great for a range of ages and fairly near you - DS loves it (5, has loved it for years) but so do older cousins. Just remember waterproofs.

Or can you get up to London? Could do something like Covent Garden (a teenage dream) mixed with the Transport Museum for the 3yo (plenty there for older kids too). Obviously loads more options in London depending on what they enjoy.

I have been to Beauleiu - unfortunately my girls are massive stereotypes and have no interest in cars or transport museums. Thank you for the ideas though.

I second London, but failing that and if weather poor: Romsey Rapids followed by a meal somewhere fun?

Draground · 22/01/2025 11:56

london is a definite possibility! Any ideas for a nice lunch out? Shame the rainforest cafe is closed down. The kids are not very adventurous in their tastes so some kind of American diner or Italian would suit us best.

Hard Rock Cafe in Piccadilly Circus is a good location for lunch. Maybe 5 minutes walk to Trafalgar Square, which in turn is 5-10 mins walk from Covent Garden.
The weather forecast for Central London is looking fair.
Have fun.
We love London and go regularly.
