Food for three year old's party - have I missed anything?

Sandwiches
Breadsticks
Party rings
Pom bear
Veggie straws
Home made cupcakes plain

Apple juice
Orange juice
Water

Melon
Watermelon
Blueberries
Cucumber
Red pepper
Carrot sticks

Birthday cake to take home.

Guessing this is ok? Have I missed anything glaringly obvious?

That all looks fab 😊
What sandwiches are you doing? I would go with ham/cheese/jam.

Bananalanacake · 21/01/2025 12:41

Two different colours of jelly and vanilla ice cream.

Ham, cheese and then some finger sandwiches from marks and Spencer (the adults can also enjoy them). Hadn't thought about jam...

Do you have any allergies? Flora is vegan if you want to cover all bases with the sandwiches

GameOfJones · 21/01/2025 12:44

Sounds perfect!

I think it’s loads and you could actually do less. Otherwise you might end up with loads of waste. Plus loads of prep for you doing more than needed

-Breadsticks or veggies straws - not both
-Watermelon only, ditch other type melon
-no carrot sticks- many 3 year olds still choke on raw carrots, so safer. I assume some kids are under 3 also.
-no peppers - you need quite a few and they stain if toddlers walking around dribbling red pepper

Peppers will stay, my son's favourite and it's his party!

Good idea re the melon.

Looks lovely but if anyone is gluten intolerant there isn’t anything for them except fruit?

if you have left over sandwiches, freeze them and they will be good as snacks over the next few weeks. They defrost quickly. You could also freeze left over cupcakes. The rest of the non fruit stuff will keep well in an airtight box so shouldn’t be loads of wastage.

Dont go mad prepping fruit and veg. You can always quickly chop up a bit more if they turn out to be more popular than I think they will be and left over will keep better unprepped.

Caspianberg · 21/01/2025 13:05

@Katrinawaves i think it’s fine. My son has various allergies and I just assume he can’t eat anything at parties so I always take own back up. If he can eat anything it’s a bonus, but I don’t expect others to cater.

No one is gluten intolerant, phew!

Serving juice in open cups is quite likely to get messy if they are leaning across the table to take things from plates etc they get knocked over. I know it's a lot of plastic waste but we used to do the small bottles of water or fruit shoots whatever to avoid spills.

I'm doing small cartons

Strawberries.

We did croissants instead of bread sticks that went down really well!

ChaosAndCuddlesAndTeacups · 21/01/2025 13:24

And those table cloths that you can colour in. Double up as a craft table before food comes out 👌

Flittingaboutagain · 21/01/2025 13:28

I presume you mean you will cut up sticks of vegetables which a PP has referred to as veggie straws?

I would be thrilled with this selection. My children aren't allowed added sugar and they'd really enjoy your food. Sounds wonderful OP.

the5percentclub · 21/01/2025 13:28

Something to dip the breadsticks in (and the veg if they want) like humous or cream cheese. Maybe that's too messy for you, but you asked.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 21/01/2025 14:17

I know it's most waste... sorry world...but we always do packets of crisps and cartons of drink. Then no sharing, no spilling and you can take left overs home.
Do don't humus. anyone with a bug will double dip....

AtleastitsnotMonday · 21/01/2025 14:54

The cheese and pineapple hedgehog!!!!
Only joking it looks great. I agree there's no need for 2 types of melon. I'm not sure how popular plain fairy cakes will be. I'd either use the petit four cases and make them mini, or scrap them and do a tray of chocolate crispy cakes that can be chopped into bite size squares

AtleastitsnotMonday · 21/01/2025 14:55

And cut crusts of sandwiches. Other wise children take one bite then don't eat any more because they don't like crusts.
