Got a piano - now what (haven't played in 25 years)

Today we got a new (to us) piano, from some lovely friends of ours who were getting a new one. I haven't played in 25 years or so, so any suggestions on what books to get, what to do etc would be welcomed. I asked Chat GPT for a programme and it suggested a few, but cannot be buying all the separate sheet music for £10 each - so any recommendations of next steps, books etc would be great.

Not sure what level you are /were at but I bought a copy of einaudi "islands" and got stuck in?

Lots of repetition and sounds great quite quickly.
I think chose something you want to be able to play and get going

I took lessons again but started on this. You can get sheet music at the library.

First poster nails it

I was just going to recommend the exact same. Gorgeous

I used the Simply Piano app over lockdown on my iPad, you can try a free trial, it tests you to find your level, teaches different skills then has access to loads of songs and then sheet music as you move through the lessons. If you just want to recreationally play at home I think it was great.

I got to grade 4 in piano but was more advanced in theory and played the flute as well. Thank you for all the suggestions

There are many classical pieces available as free PDFs online these days, so there’s no need to buy books. Also, if you’re starting after such a long break, there may well be simplified versions of classics / any other scores you’re interested in… just search on google with the names of songs + beginner / intermediate level. Also, many YouTube videos showing a top-down view of the keyboard so you can watch and play pretty much without formal lessons. Is it a real piano or digital?
