How to handle this?

A very close relative is in a bit of a spot. She is 66 (and rather super, if I say so myself) but had a burst pipe in her house last year, when she was away. It wasn't freezing.
The moment she knew, she reported to the building insurers, who were as helpful as ....
It took her 3 tries to get someone to come and say they would solve the immediate issue.
Eventually, in November, the buildings insurance company appointed an assessor. First appointment 10th January, assessor didn't turn up as he wrote down the wrong time.
New appointment arranged for tomorrow at 12:00. Relative will confirm first thing.
Can she claim for lost earnings for the first appointment? About €830?
Has she got any come back?
It took the insurers, let's say 4 months to respond to the repair estimate. Are they looking to say that the time taken (by them) will reduce what they will pay?
This is such a nightmare as my relative has had to live in hotels, is probably malnourished, very stressed and needs to go to a laundrette, when she has a perfectly lovely house with a washing machine, dryer and kitchen at home.

Sad that there is no empathy or advice.

You gave utterly inadequate information, so this is unsurprising.

You asked for legal advice in Chat without even specifying the jurisdiction you want legal advice for. There is a Legal Matters board.
