Legoland timing

We’ve never been and are planning a two day/one night trip.

When is best to go; weekend or school half term?

I read it’s going to be manic busy but wondering if there’s a better time?

Yeah i go in june that way its nice and warm the water parks are open and its not as busy as summer still busy though.Better than half term

We like to stay at a premier inn in like camberly or farnborough which is cheaper go for one day at coral reef water park nearby and set off early in the morning for legoland next day . I recommend you pack a picnic the foods very expensive ,we do pay for one refill cup and share though

Do you have any inset days coming up? That would be a great time to go.

PokerFriedDips · 19/01/2025 15:00

If you can afford the on-site hotel you get let into the park an hour before the general public on day 2 - this is a vital opportunity to be at the head of the queue for whatever the most popular ride with the longest queue is (exactly which ride this is changes year by year).

It is very much worthwhile to pay the extra for the lowest tier of whatever it is they are calling the Q-bot function now. The level where you don't queue-jump but your place in the queue is held for you as you go to the loo or spend some time in a playground etc. (Usually excludes the aforementioned most popular ride with the longest queue)

There is no such thing as a quieter time. The options are insanely crowded & overwhelming or really extraspecially insanely crowded & overwhelming because whatever you choose as being less likely to be popular, many thousand other families will pick the same date.

Brief your children in advance that you will not be buying ANY lego on-site because it's all a lot more expensive at legoland than it is in other shops/amazon etc. However if you can afford to, privately resolve to flex on that as there are some sets that have a legoland-only edition and if your child develops an urgent need for a very specific ninjago dragon (for example) you may wish to so a quick google before leaving to verify whether you really can get it cheaper elsewhere.

We tried that.
So did every other family in the country who had an inset day that day and there were A LOT.

Werehalfwaythere · 20/01/2025 14:48

Thanks everyone!

We've booked an inset day knowing it’ll be manic as most schools seem to have the same day but we’ve also booked to stay at the Lego Windsor Resort so can hopefully whizz round a few rides before it opens and can stay late and will also pack some snacks and games to keep us entertained in the queues.

We’re really looking forward to it as my son is Lego obsessed and will love the references everywhere.

Im also going to buy Lego beforehand and take it with me so he has a new set, but not at crazy prices!

It wasn’t cheap but will be a one-off so not too bad.

A weekend is better. Sundays generally are a little quieter across most theme parks(we go a lot as have annual passes).

NotNeil · 20/01/2025 16:07

If you are staying in the hotel, they do let you in to the park early, but lots of the rides/coffee places are not open until the park actually opens - we were there at Christmas, so not sure if this is a seasonal thing. Also, you can only use one of the entrances - the gate nearest to Mythica (?sp) was not opened until the actual park opened so we still had to walk through the whole park to find the ride we wanted (and you don't find out that that entrance is closed until you walk all the way there).

Yes, I think they open earlier from Feb/March if I remember rightly!

Really looking forward to it. Also looking forward to checking out the hotel swimming!

You have to book slots for the swimming. We quite enjoyed it. I think you can only book a slot from 30 days prior to your stay. On the same floor as the pool there is a brilliant playroom (with a bar!). Loads of stuff to do and I think they run workshops too although we didn't do any of these. There were frequent shows on next to the downstairs bar and usually "characters" outside the restaurant at breakfast time - great photo opportunity. Breakfast was very good and included in our stay, but lunch and dinner were pretty expensive - even the bar food..

Hi all bumping this thread. We’re going to Legoland in August on a Friday for our five year olds birthday.

Ive seen options about buying fast track passes , although buying this for a family of four would work out expensive.

Is it worth buying them ?

Yes, particularly if you are only going for one day. You are still queuing for the ride but not standing for an hour trying to entertain a 5 year old, you can do your queuing in the park instead.

Southern25 · 22/07/2025 11:54

Thanks, I’ve seen two options I’d look at , one shot bundle and reserve and ride. I couldn’t make sense of which is better.

Any recommendations?

I think that would come down to cost. With the basic reserve and ride which is much cheaper, you don't get the instant access and with the queues in August you may well find that you only end up doing 5 rides in a day anyway but there is loads to do in the park that aren't rides, like the 4D cinema, looking around miniland, playing with lego and the pirate play park. The instant access looks tempting but with reserve and ride, so long as you reserve the next ride as soon as you come off the previous one, it's not actually that bad waiting because you're busy doing something else. It's not a park you go to just for the rides.

Southern25 · 22/07/2025 13:42

So you have to pay to park there ?

NotNeil · 22/07/2025 14:42

Yes you do.

Southern25 · 22/07/2025 17:59

Oh I think I get the fast track options. Reserve and ride means you queue, just means you don’t have to physically queue. You go somewhere else instead of actually waiting in the line. A virtual queue.
One shot bundles mean you get fast tracked into the attraction queues saving you time.

If it’s a one off thing, I guess it’s probably worth paying it. As we are there one day only.

We are staying at a hotel in Windsor with no parking. It’s the travel lodge . Anyone got any suggestions for parking ?
We are thinking of getting the bus to Legoland , anyone know if there is one from the tow centre ? Also if a bus goes to Windsor Castle ?
