Holey heated Throws

Hi Everyone, my first post so please be kind as I find my way through.
I'm hoping being a Grandma now with middle age children and adult grand children doesn't disqualify me from this great site but I need advice and opinions on heated throws. I need to keep warm so researched them before buying and the first purchase I made was a Slumberdown Comfy Hugs which worked reall well but developed holes in the fleecy fabric and the wires could be seen. This was used on top of the duvet on my bed so not wrapped around me or moved about. I used it approx 6 times. I purchased through Amazon and they have handled the complaint well and issued a returns label despite it being past the normal 30 day return period. I then purchased a Dreamland Snuggle up heated throw via Amazon. I decided to check it out whilst still folded in packaging and found 4 holes/pulls in fabric. Now I am wondering if they should be there or have I just been very unlucky having both with these flaws. I have asked on Amazon and no one else has experienced holes or flaws in the throws. I have photos of them if anyone can advise or tell me if this is normal. I can't have my heating up as high as I used to so really need a decent throw at night time. Thanks for any help and apologies for long message.

Sounds like you’ve just been unlucky and/or bought bad quality throws.

I’ve had a Beurer heated throw (via Amazon) for 2 years now and it’s wrapped round me constantly and gets quite a beating every winter and has never developed any holes or other issues. In fact I bought my father the same one for Christmas and he’s also loving it.

I have a couple of Dreamland heated throws both a couple of years old (can’t remember whether they came from Amazon but there’s a good chance they did) and hole free so I think you’ve been unlucky.

I've got a fleece one from Lakeland. It's about four years old and still fine.

I have a few heated throws. The best one that I have is a faux fur, Dreamland. It washes well and heats up well. They have them on sale in Argos at the moment.

Gosh mine are about 5 years old and look new still. Are you able to buy through a reputable company like John Lewis?

I have an Amazon cheapy that has just given up the ghost after 4 years' heavy use, but no holes, just the switch doesn't work any more, and two newer ones from Lakeland, 2 years old and a few months old respectively, no holes.

That's so weird that yours have developed holes

I know - I can't believe how unlucky I have been. The 2nd one only arrived 3 days ago and still folded in its bag but I can see the flaws not holes but like when your sewing machine goes nuts and the stitches all bunch up. So it's arrived like that not even been used. There are at least 6 of the flaws and that's just from the part of the blanket I can see. They were both around £50 which I thought was reasonable price and other buyers of the same throw don't appear to have had a problem. It's turning into a mystery.

Both well known brands so not sure what constitutes Bad Quality but I agree the actual quality is terrible but I've yet to find anyone else who has had this problem. I thought £50 was a reasonable price to pay and money is tight right now. I'll take a look at Beurer brand - thanks.

Also recommend the fleece one with the wool underneath from Lakeland. It's toasty!

Ooh, I don’t really need another heated throw but have had my eye on that one for ages. That’s a good reduction which may be enough to override the detail of not properly needing it!
