What age did you start weaning your baby

Mine is only 3 and a half months at the moment so I'm thinking ahead and I know the recommendation is 6 months but a lot of baby food says from 4 months although I'll be making my own.
Just wondering how other people got on if you started at 4 months or if most people wait until 6.

My eldest child, who is now 20, was weaned onto proper food starting at 6 months. Likewise, his younger brother (now 18). Neither have any issues with food at all.

I'm surprised they say 4 months on the food then if it's really not advisable for them to have it yet and there's a whole facebook page dedicated to weaning at 4 months.
I was expecting a mixed bag of experiences to be honest but it seems waiting is best.

In some (albeit rare) cases it's medically advisable to wean around the 4 month mark. So for that reason the NHS and health authorities in other countries will say 17 weeks is the earliest you can wean. So these baby food companies run with the 4 months because technically it's noted by health authorities to be OK and there's no law stopping them. But at the end of the day they're trying to sell you something and profit is their priority, not your baby's health and wellbeing. Similar to adult food manufacturers selling us foods that arent the best for us, they want our money and aren't too concerned about our health. There is an abundance of research now that shows waiting until 6 months is best in terms of gut maturity, and leads to less chance of food intolerances and stomach problems down the line.
