Okay this is something that bothers me and I need to vocalise it

Years and years ago my cousins best mate had a new baby, my cousin and her husband babysat the baby, the baby was about 8 weeks maybe? Something like that. My cousin had a bath with the baby, her best mate found out (well my cousin told her) and she went apeshit. Their friendship never recovered and they don't speak anymore.

This is fucked up isn't it ? I wouldn't dream of bathing with another persons baby, my own yes, but not my friends or anyone's for that matter.
Is it just me that thinks this is fucking weird ??
Why would you think that yes, this is okay and a normal thing to do.

I just needed to get that out because it still pops into my mind every now and then and I just 🤷‍♀️

I don’t think it’s sexual, but it is a lovely feeling bathing a tiny baby with you. Tiny babies are just bloody beautiful.

HOWEVER. It’s far too intimate for someone who’s not the baby’s parent or sibling.

Again: fucking weird.

Bit strange but I wouldn't fall out with someone over it. The mother who ended a friendship over this is the unreasonable one here IMO. People do strange things, but why did it upset the mother so much?

Yanbu it is very very weird.

Mum and baby co-bathing together - very normal, quite convenient actually.

Non-family adult co-bathing with baby - super weird and unnecessary.

If I was babysitting a friend's baby (who gives their 8 week old to a friend to babysit...?! That is so so young) and the baby had a poonami, I'd do a hasty job of cleaning him with wet flannels and then at handover I'd suggest to the parents he needs a bath.

I'd have gone apeshit too. People do strange things sure, but not with my baby!
