Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have been fed & are bounding about upstairs somewhere. And someone's alarm has just gone off so I doubt it'll be peaceful down here for long.

I'm going with dd1 to have her nails done shortly. She turns 18 next weekend 😱 & wanted them done for going out out with her friends to celebrate.

Then I'm nipping into town with dd2 to pick up her gift and card for dd1 - she knows what she wants to get so should be a quick trip. We'll probably stop off for a coffee somewhere too.

When we get back, I really need to start birthday prep! I have all sorts to do & a really busy week of appointments and work things too 🙄.

Tea will be cobbled together from the remains of my BIG Christmas shop in December, before pay day next week. There's plenty of odds and ends to keep us going, although I do need a small top up tomorrow of fresh salad and fruit.

Tonight I'll either sit down with my book or crochet - not sure which - for a couple of hours relax before bed. Maybe with a glass or two of wine.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and All.

DD has woken up full of cold so we’re not going anywhere today which I am pleased about!

Have got a mountain of housework to do but currently procrastinating on the sofa watching Young Sheldon with DD and scrolling on here. Will get going soon but it’s just so nice snuggled under a blanket on the sofa.

Tonight will most probably be a takeaway pizza and Gladiators!!!

Thislittlekitten · 18/01/2025 10:08

Morning all.

Ds woke me up early. So we had a chat in bed then took the dog out.
Ive just made bacon rolls for everyone so the house is up. Ddog is mooching. One cat is asleep on me the other in DSs bed.

Plans For today are to see family then have a wander in town. Both DH and I have separate nights out tonight though I’m not drinking.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 18/01/2025 10:14

Not sure. Recovering from a chest infection / cold so not sure what I will get up to today. I do need to finish watching the final episodes of The Witcher Season 3.

TheTruthHurtsDontIt · 18/01/2025 10:15

Working, absolutely bolting round my job this morning as I'm going on holiday tomorrow and I just want to be done.

dontforgetme · 18/01/2025 10:22

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

Quiet/slow morning here so far which is just how I like it. Just drinking a brew then will clean the kitchen from last night and put a wash on. Fancy omelette for a late breakfast. We will take our dc to the park for a couple of hours after lunch, then settle down to watch the footy this afternoon. Fajita pasta for dinner (cooked by oh) and will probably have a couple bottles of beer. We have our nephews staying over tonight so I think a marvel/Star Wars type film will be on the agenda, which means I will disappear to another room with my book!

Have lovely Saturdays all.

mamaduckbone · 18/01/2025 10:22

Good morning @lucysmam and all.
A quiet day today - I've been for my run and had porridge for breakfast whilst watching the birds going mad for dh's new bird feeders.

I'm helping ds2 with his sixth form application and a revision timetable for his mocks, and going to visit my mum this afternoon.

Other than that, not a lot - we'll light the fire and continue binge watching Ted Lasso this evening I imagine.

LightCameraBitchSmile · 18/01/2025 10:27

Morning all.

I'm still in bed with my book - my favourite Saturday morning treat!

I'm going to get up in a mo and go for a run and long walk to get some outside time in. I've been busy in the office all week so not sure when I was last outside in daylight!

Will finish my run via a supermarket and going to pick up loads of fresh 'bits' as I'm craving that kind of lunch. Then maybe fajitas or pizza for tea.

Later I'll either meet a friend or work on a job application. 'The' job in my sector has come up and I think I'm ready to go for it! Would mean a £30k payrise and be an amazing opportunity so need to put some time and effort in!

Peridot1 · 18/01/2025 10:31

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Im the only one up here so far.

I’ve had a few cups of tea and a green smoothie for breakfast. Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher as I didn’t do it last night so it’s on again. Did a load of laundry and hung it up and have a small load of a couple of jumpers in now.

Will go and have a shower in a bit. Just having another cup of tea first.

Then I am planning on sorting out the last couple of boxes of Christmas bits. Which may involve testing lots of old lights. And I want to tidy and clean the shelf units in the dining area.

Im still on soft food after a dental procedure ten days ago so ravioli for dinner for me and DH and DS will have nachos and fajitas.

Not doing dry January here so will have wine. And last night’s episode of The Traitors.

RabbitsRock · 18/01/2025 10:33

LightCameraBitchSmile wow £30K!!

UpUpUpU · 18/01/2025 10:35

I broke up from work yesterday for 10 days annual leave 🎉

I had a much needed lie in, my son has just left for a weekend with his dad and it’s my best friends wedding today which is a full
weekend away and I cannot wait!

Im having a coffee then will start some pre wedding pampering before my partner picks me up. I’m so excited!

Giggorata · 18/01/2025 10:36

Good morning lucysmam and all,
Never an early riser, I was up late last night talking to an old friend from way back who rang me up out of the blue, a lovely surprise. We talked for ages, catching up on everything and making plans to meet up when the weather is warmer.
The usual tea and pills, followed by getting some pastry concoctions out of the freezer to defrost, ready to take to the coven tonight.
I will run round this morning, trying to get things done so I can watch the snooker this afternoon.
DH is still coughing and I have prepared loads of onions, as I have been doing all week for various dinners. He is having locally produced sausages tonight, given by a friend in the village. Even I like them, and I'm not usually too keen.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

BestIsWest · 18/01/2025 10:43

Having a coffee in front of Saturday Kitchen. I had a flu jab yesterday so it’s left me feeling a bit sluggish.

I am then going to attempt to wash my hair- our bathroom is being done and we have no bath or shower at the moment. I haven’t had a shower since last Sunday and unless I book into a hotel or gym can’t see myself having one for a few more days as the shower unit didn’t fit and we’ve had to order a different one.

Then food shopping with DH and lunch somewhere.
This afternoon will see DM and do various things for her.

Just decided to have a second coffee.

RainbowWife · 18/01/2025 10:48

Morning Lucysmam and all!

A slow start to the day. Woke at 8:30 (early for me on a weekend) and came downstairs for a coffee with the dogs. Have been curled up on the sofa with them and MN ever since! Should really have taken them for a walk but they're sleeping anyway...

Off to pick DW up from the airport at lunchtime, she's been away for work for a week and I can't wait to see her. She is going to be unbelievably jetlagged.

Then getting my nails done at 3:30, will pick something up for dinner afterwards. Gladiators and Masked Singer tonight!

ViciousCurrentBun · 18/01/2025 10:51

A walk along the river with DH stopping for lunch overlooking the weir, love the sound of rushing water. Then a food shop on the way home. So that will be probably 4 hours. Watch some of the box set we are watching, cook dinner. Popping out with DS to local shopping mall to return and pick up some stuff I ordered at around 7. DH and I will then have our couple of hours apart, I will shoot stuff online playing on my console/ read as will he. Then at about 10 we meet up in the sitting room for coffee and watch the news and have our little current affairs chat, what we have read and any victories in our games.

daffodilandtulip · 18/01/2025 12:08

Morning all!

Work was quiet and finished early yesterday so I blitzed the house and did all those little annoying jobs and piles of things here and there. So I have zero chores to do!

Son is out catching Pokémon with his friends so he'll be gone for hours. I've walked the dog and just thinking about what to have for lunch.

Then I'll light one of my lovely Christmas gift candles, snuggle under a blanket and read the day away. Bliss.

Really fancy a takeaway today, last one was Christmas Eve which seems an age away!

evtheria · 18/01/2025 12:16

Woke up around 6 in a bit of a panic thinking it was a weekday, because I could hear DP in the bathroom (but he was off to the gym). Received the weekly Tesco delivery, did 2 laundry loads, then sat down to enjoy the i weekend paper that DP brought home.

DS is finishing his gaming right now - or should be, because I gave him a "10mins left!" warning, so he can help me cook some lunch when he's done.

Thinking of going 'down the road' (10' bus ride) this evening to look at an outdoor art installation... though I know DP just wants a chilled out day today, might just be me and DS!

gingercat02 · 18/01/2025 12:23

Hello @lucysmam, and the Saturday morning-ers.
I have been to my dance class, put all the dry washing away, waved DH and DS off to the football.
I'm now sat on the sofa eating cheese, houmous, and crackers, watchingSaturdayKitchen. I have no plans at all and it's lovely!
DS is going out, so DH and I are having gammon steaks, chips, peas with pineapple, and fried egg. Yummy 😋

Iamnotaloggrip · 18/01/2025 14:27

Busy morning washing, cleaning and baking so just sat with a cuppa at the mo. Ds is on his ps5, dd reading her kindle. Will go and start trying to tidy the garden shortly. Then it’s sausages for tea and Gladiators on the telly tonight.

Have a good day all!

DilemmaDelilah · 18/01/2025 15:25

Hello @lucysmam and everyone.

I'm STILL not properly well, but I decided I will never get well if I don't do anything so went to the local garden centre this morning to spend our Christmas garden voucher. We got a magnolia tree, a hellebore and a pittosporum.

Our garden is very sloped and shaded, so difficult to look after and I tend to get things that are easy to look after and still look OK in winter. The magnolia will just look like a bundle of sticks in winter but can be forgiven for its beautiful flowers in spring. We have somebody who comes to do stuff in the garden twice a month, so his job next week will be to plant those, and two new apple trees I have bought for our guerrilla orchard.

We had lunch at the garden centre, they have a very good cafe, and by the time we got back I was knackered so I've just woken up from a nap. Mr Dilemma is still asleep, bless him.

I'm really looking forward to seeing things sprout in the garden. I have a lot of crocus bulbs in the front garden and daffodils all along the drive, so it shouldn't be too long before we see those.

Nothing in particular planned for this evening's meal as we ate well at lunchtime, probably cheese and biscuits I think - we still have plenty left after Christmas.
