I have relatively young daughters and Chappell Roan seems to be very popular with them but some of her lyrics especially if they sing them really do make cringe. Casual for instance features the lyric 'knee deep in the passenger seat eating me out'. Similarly some of the lyrics of Charlie xcxs guess don't leave much to the imagination.

Am I right to feel a little ick and think here should be some advisory lyrics warning? I think if similar lyrics were sung by a male there definitely would be. I know maybe some of at least Chapell Roans songs are about lesbian empowerment but as she has become a global star with appeal to young girls the lyrics of some songs to me are a bit raw. Do you agree?

I wouldn't like that but as someone who grew up in the 90s I used to sing: boom shake the room.

I used to sing
Girl your booty is so round
I just wanna lay you down
Let me take you from behind
I won't cum until it's time
But if I cannot sleep with you
Maybe I could have a taste
Put your niney on my tongue
And your booty on my face
Quite loudly!!!

The words to Barbie girl.
Ludicris, 'I wanna lick you from your head to your toes, I wanna move you from the bed to the floor'
Blue, 'let me lick you up and down till you say stop'

These lyrics have always been around your just more in tune to it now the kids are listening to it. I hadn't a clue what I was actually listening to.

Boom Boom Shake the Room is a different song entirely.

Another vote for explicit lyrics have always been there. I grew up in the early 00’s and P!nk and Lilly Allen both had some pretty explicit songs!

Remember when 911 told us they were going to lay us flat on the floor and love us a little bit more? And when Janet Jackson wanted people to watch her being screwed against the wall in Any Time, Any Place. 😱

"Remember when 911...?" There'll be people on here old enough to remember the Dr. Hook original from 1976!

Chappell roans target audience isn’t pre teens. Not everything should be made PG to cater to children. Though personally I’d rather kids learn about positive sex and female enjoyment than some sex lyrics I heard when I was a kid 🤷🏻‍♀️

I also thought about 'let me lick you up and down til you stay stop'. That stands out from my youth. And I was shocked when I found out the lyrics to chain reaction.

I was a teenage goth in the 90’s, obsessed with the Mission, some of thee lyrics were pretty rude. “Kiss me long, kiss me hard, kiss me till my honey drips”. The only difference is it’s mainly female pop artists now, like Chapel, Arianna or Sabrina Carpenter rather than male rappers or rockers. I think they are great.
