With the Welsh water main repair ongoing as it's under the river and hard to access?
I have 4 adults plus pets and 2.5 litres of water left. I have a bucket of rainwater from the garden sat in the bath ready to refill the toilet tank.
I checked Asda Deeside on my way home from the airport (been away Dh called me to check on the way home) no water there, too late for Costco but the people in Asda said it's all gone from there too. Dh checked in Bangor as he had to go there but nothing there either.
Once repaired it's supposed to take another 48 hours to get everyone back to normal.
I'm hoping Welsh water will get bottles out today. I have to see to mom in her 80's and unable to get out of the retirement flats she has one bottle.
Oh joy baby wipes for a wash and grocery shopping today after being away.
I'm feeling sorry for myself and just wanted to moan 😫

No water here except enough for a hot drink in a while. No bottled water to be had anywhere as it was reported it was covid all over again in supermarkets. I have a few bottles of Kombucha to drink plus some oranges to eat.
Lots of shops not opening until water back on which now could be Sunday according to Welsh Water so it is going to be a hard time for lots of people.
I have plenty of food in freezer so not going to starve. Did you get Wales TV last night, mine was off on 2 main channels.

I missed everything as I didn't arrive home till nearly 11pm. I have to shop for food, hoping shops are open or I can get groceries (not water) from either Bangor or Abergele.

I’m not in Wales and feel for you. Something similar happened to me a couple of years back. After that l bought 2 large (possibly 5 litre) containers of still mineral water and keep them in the loft. This worked out cheaper than buying empty containers in a hardware shop.

If it is not used after a period of time, l’ll water the plants with it and refill them with tap water. I know this doesn’t help today, but might be one to think about for the future.

Keep in touch with Welsh Water. Our water was off for a couple of days last year and they left water in the church porch that you could pick up yourself. After the first day they started delivering it to the doorstep. We are lucky to have a small stream in the garden so we used buckets of 'wild water' from there to flush the loos!

Update
They have put the patch on and now they have to fill the pipes it'll take 48 hours to turn everyone back on. I think the news said 30,000 households. They said the water will be brown and let it run clear. so we won't be drinking it for a while.
DWR has water trucks with non potable water in a few places, but the lines are very long and people are getting annoyed so I'll avoid
I happened to end up in a shop with water and was allowed 2 two litre bottles, so teeth brushing and cups of tea are on. I got my sister to get two more for our mother who is stuck at home recovering from Pneumonia. I got her some ready meals she likes so can eat out of the container and plastic knives forks and spoons we had got from Costco years ago.
Dh made a few trips to the stream up the road and he along with some other people filled empty water bottles for toilet flushing, he made a lot of trips back and forth. I have an Amazon prime order of water due tomorrow and we'll use some of that before we are back up and running.
We have ratty looking hair but are clean and smell ok thanks to wet wipes and deodorant. I can't wait for a shower.

I’m pleased things are changing OP. The great thing is, that first shower is going to feel ooh so lovely.

I was lucky enough to get 12 - 2 ltr bottles delivered by Welsh Water this morning due to my recent late husband being on the vunerable list - I asked for him to be removed but obviously they haven't done it but the man said to keep it as I was on his list. I took it round to my 3 elderly neighbours and kept 2 for myself as I am also elderly. They were very grateful for it. Most of the shops are shut in town and all of the pubs.
It has been absolute hell where I live, people almost coming to blows in shops with water, people taking trolley loads saying they have a big family and people with children being left out. I am going to England tomorrow so will have a shower at my friends and do my shopping there.
I have just read that Welsh Water pay £30 for every 12 hours you are without water for homes and £75 for businesses.

At least its not the height of summer! We gas a similar size burst that affected 35000 households in and around Bristol a few years ago, and it was during really hot weather. We were a bit whiffy !

FishPie2 · 17/01/2025 18:28

I am going on a coach to England tomorrow so hope the rest of the passengers have all used plenty of wet wipes. 😄
