Waters breaking or discharge?

Once a day when I stand up after a long time of sitting I get a rush of what I assumed was discharge, but now I’m worried it’s my waters. It’s been happening the last 3/4 days. I’m 36 weeks

I got out of a car at 36+5 and felt what you have described but it literally was the smallest amount. I went to MAU and they swabbed. It was amniotic fluid and I was taken to induction ward and put on antibiotics. It’s worth going to get checked just in case.

It could be hind waters. Mine broke and it was just occasional gush
Best to contact your midwife unit they can check it out

How much water comes out? If it’s your waters breaking, then it feels like you’ve peed your pants without feeling it. But if it’s a slight trickle only then it could mean the amniotic sac has still ruptured. Amniotic fluid is lighter than discharge. Discharge is usually a bit thicker and sticky or slimy.

Ring your midwife and ask her. They should call you in to assess it.

I had this and it was my hind waters. I needed inducing 24 hours later. Good luck op x

I think it would be best to phone triage and get it checked out as once waters break there can be a risk of infection. If you pop a maternity pad in your pants, the midwives can look at it under the microscope and see if its waters or something else. If its been going on for a few days, I'd take a few bits with you in case you need to stay to be monitored. Good luck!

Definitely get checked. Wear a pad to collect it. Amniotic fluid smells sweet and also a bit semen like. But midwives will test the pad which is the surest way to tell

Definitely pop along to triage (ideally with a wet pad if possible). I always found amniotic fluid smelled like bleach.
