Flu remedies?

For my 3yo! DS woke on Saturday very crabby, had a nap which is unlike him then puked later on :(. He hasn’t since and had a temperature for 2-3 days but doesn’t have one now

hes eating (bit fussy but if I offered nuggets and chips for every meal he’d eat it haha!) he’s drinking , wee’s and poops so he’s doing well

hes just wiped :( he’s been to nursery as I’m working and he isn’t really unwell? Nursery said he’s been fine has just seemed more tired than usual but not overly tired? He’ll just take himself for some quiet time now and then

like in our house he’ll do that at the moment. I’m helping him relax as much as I can , bit if toy story and lay down before bed, early bed time , easy play (building blocks)

how long will he be zapped for? I’ve heard loads who’ve had this flu said it is exhausting and tbh he’s starting to cough and sounds congested a bit :(

I am giving calpol/ ibuprofen too to help x

I suffer with health anxiety and try to control my worry for my kids. My mum just sparked my trigger because she keeps saying he needs antibiotics and to speak to doctors

(have spoke to them and of course may ask advice again. I do know how to parent them haha)

Has he had the flu spray? How do you know it's flu? What you're describing sounds just like any one of those random bugs kids get, especially at nursery age. It sounds like you're doing everything right, he'll be much improved in a few days.

He's had a winter virus, but is no longer running a temperature and is well enough for nursery but is tired and a bit cranky in the evenings.

I'd stop the medicines - there doesn't seem to be any need unless he's reporting pain (which you don't mention) and encourage lots of rest. Why does he need helping to relax? What would happen if you simply popped him in bed very early and read an extra long story? Sleep is a really good thing in convalescence

Oh when I said some lay down before bed I meant like before bed time, our bed time routine starts properly upstairs I read him a book or two before he goes to sleep !

and the term helping him relax as much as I can was used in the wrong way I think! I mean I usually have activities set up and we are usually very routine based so when I say that I just mean we have come home no plans no set up etc, less structure while he feels a bit rundown

Because I suffer with health anxiety I do get really worried and his tiredness made me worried as like I said nursery said he has been a little more tired / emotional. He is speech delayed so I don’t think can convey certain things like if he had a headache or if his body felt achy

He just needs time. If no fever or pain he doesn't needs meds. Vitamin C is good for your immune system, you could give him a chewable gummy for children one. I find it can help fend off illness faster if I take it at the first sign. The body doesn't store it so if it's unnecessary it'll just be peed out. Extra sleep too if he needs it.
