Ever alleviated neck pain/tech neck with a chair?

I suggest terrible with my neck and shoulder pain when working. I have often worked form the sofa as it hurts less but think that'd a bad move for long term! I have a desk and a decent office chair but with all of the posture techniques, u have to oack my back with pillows to get it right. Have you found the holy grail of a chair? Or is there a service where you can get matched to one?!

Nope, no magic chair. But physio prescribed exercises and they definitely help to some degree (when I do them often enough).

Can you share them? Unless they are tailored specifically to you!?

I know there's lots on Google but it's hard to know the ones that genuinely help from the ones click baiting.

Sorry, just saw your reply (have been too busy with the Traitors to go on MumsnetBlush). I don't think I'll be able to share the links as they will have expired now, but I remember them from my initial consultation (during lockdown I had a completely unsuitable workstation set up and developed chronic pain so went to the physio in desperation.)

Basically, there is the neck roll, starting facing to the left, circling and dropping your chin down to the front, moving it through to end up facing to the right (then reverse direction, right to left).

Then tilting your head to each side and holding gently close to your shoulder with the opposite hand for a count of ten and releasing.

Then a chin tuck when you pull your chin inwards hold then release several times.

Then lying down and raising your arms straight slowly over your head, hold once they're straight on the floor, then release slowly back.

Then lifting a broom handle or similar slowly to shoulder height and slowly moving it to the left, then to the right.

Each exercise is in sets of 5 and is done slowly in a controlled way. I don't know if those descriptions make sense but hopefully they tie in with the YouTube videos you've found. I hope you feel better soon!

This store has an amazing selection of back friendly chairs. You need to go in and try some out. The staff are very helpful and know their stuff. There are stores in different cities
