I hardly ever eat them these days. They go from green, to green-tinged with a hint of brown. Nothing in between - they never seem to stay yellow - and I'm not fussy about much, but I am about my bananas. I want the skin perfectly yellow and firm, please.

WHAT IS THE DEAL? I feel like they've been like this since about lockdown - is there an actual reason? Is it climate change?? Brexit?! Yeah, I know, most EU countries are not v well known for their banana harvest... 😂

I feel like this was maybe spoken about a while back, but now everyone's just gone quiet and accepts the crap bananas. I miss the old ones! Any words of comfort for me??

Don't have that issue with bananas from waitrosw sainsbury m&s or the local shop. They go nicely yellow.

I was talking about this earlier today. How they all seem to have bruises when you open them up and they go from green to overripe with no in between. They didn’t used to be like this but there’s been a marked deterioration.

My Sri Lankan friends buy red bananas (only when they visit London due to availability). They are DELICIOUS and put you off of any other ones.

Porridge with a Sri Lankan banana really sets you up for the day.

Not as good as they used to be, green to brown mostly but the smaller ones from Waitrose can still be nice. Still love sliced banana on buttered toast.

We had some decent bananas in France last week. Dd said it’s the best she’s had in ages.

If you ever watch store staff filling up the shelves these days, I reckon that's where the trouble lies. They don't treat fruit and veg as delicate items. They throw them in,so I have no doubt it damages the bananas inside the skin.
