I take 30mg a night atm for nerve pain, been on them about 4 months. Since I've gone upto the 30mg I've noticed I'm struggling to get my wee out, it's there and I need a wee I just struggle to push it out, then when it does come out finally sometimes I can't empty my bladder properly and it's like it dries up! Anyone ever had this kind of thing ?

I was using it for bladder pain IC and post surgery as one of the things it can do is dull the nerves.

So maybe that could be that your nerves are dulled and you can't "feel" the urgency, but I already had bladder issues, so that may or maybe be helpful.

Retained urine can cause issues so maybe keep an eye on that are you bloating when it's feeling stuck?

Yes, perfectly normal - It’s commonly prescribed to prevent bedwetting in children.

Yes it’s a very well known side effect of amitriptyline and other medicines which have anticholinergic side effects - urinary retention, dry eyes, dry mouth, dry skin, and especially for older people an increase in the risk of falls, cognitive issues and dizziness. If on lots of medicines of these types, even an increase in the risk of dementia and early death.

I am also getting proper dry mouth of an evening when I've taken it ! Makes sense now... thank you all. I don't find it's really helping my sciatica tbf so I'm not sure I want to carry on taking it
