Songs to get angry to

Allnewtometoo · 14/01/2025 08:23

My husband, separated fir years, is STILL trying to control me. He is blocking every way forward to finalise the divorce (consent order/house).

I am filled with anxiety over it, he harasses me by text despite being instrucemted nit to. I feel like a victim and I need to change my way of looking at it.

So...how do I get myself out if the fear state and into one if anger?

Please don't tell me it won't help/will be destructive. Being controlled and anxious has kept me in my place and I need to step out of it

Fuck you by Lilly Allen. Sounds lovely and light, but isn't 😉

Most Rammstein songs. You can't beat a good dose of angry German industrial metal.

Another vote for rage against the machine, killing in the name of.

Lola young - messy

justusandthecat · 14/01/2025 10:15

I hope you're miserable until your dead - nessa barrett
Break stuff - Limp Bizkit
Fuck you - Kailee Morgue
You should be sad - Halsey
anything by Korn

justusandthecat · 14/01/2025 10:17

And agree with @Mabelface anything by Rammstein is always good for finding your rage.

clicking on the link works better than the video.

Shit List by L7 is a particular favourite of mine 'when I get down and I get pissed, I grab my pen and I write out a list, of all you assholes that won't be missed, you made my shitlist'

This and ABCDE by Gayle as mentioned by another poster.
I also like Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J and You're so Vain by Carly Simon.
Channel your ire into advocating for yourself. Don't let him get the better of you.

TorturedPoetDepartment · 14/01/2025 11:35

Taylor Swift - The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived or Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? would be great for this

BubblePerm · 14/01/2025 11:35

Harassment is a course of conduct and a criminal offence. If he is texting you, make sure that you ask him not to, be really clear that you want no more contact from and to go via your solicitor/intermediary.
If it is about the house/ divorce and he "has to" contact you, make clear boundaries, do not react, be firm and brief. Keep records and you can report him to the police if he continues. Please do this. You are separated from him. He doesn't/shouldn't get to play a starring role in your head. You need some peace now.

Bloody mother fucking asshole by Martha Wainwright.
Every time. Works a treat on repeat!

Greyrockin · 14/01/2025 11:54

Slipknot does it for me OP, especially Vol 3 (The Subliminal Verses) - "scream" might be a good one, or "Duality" as mentioned above.

Greyrockin · 14/01/2025 12:03

Can't quite believe this is from 20 years ago! But "Everybody knows that you're insane" by QoTSA might be another good one in your situation OP

Was just going to recommend this!

Also, 'Yes' by McAlmont and Butler is a quieter sort of fuck you song.

Offspring - the kids aren’t alright

Turophilic · 14/01/2025 12:56

The light and lilting melody of Fuck This Shit by Belle and Sebastian helps me shift from despair to rebellion. It’s not an angry piece of music, but it works a treat for me.
