School for 25 minutes?

DD has an orthodontist appointment in town, she'll need to leave school at 230 for the appointment at 3pm. Probably only 30 minutes and she has a bus back to school arriving at 350, so with a 5 minute walk, she'd be in lessons at 355. School finishes at 420. (She normally gets a bus after school to town to go to a club.)

Would you send her back to school for 25 minutes or would you assume that is too disruptive and/or not worth it? Art lesson if that makes a difference.

It’s not worth it

Bundlesoffuntoday · 12/01/2025 20:13

No I wouldn’t send her back

No, that would be ridiculous!

No what a daft idea.

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 12/01/2025 20:15

Course not

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/01/2025 20:16

Not worth the disturbance to everyone else.

modgepodge · 12/01/2025 20:17

Nope. I’ve got a similar dilemma next week as my daughter has an appointment meaning I’ll need to collect her shout 9.45, so an hour after school starts, and I’m not sure I can even be bothered sending her in for that (it’s a 5 minute drive from our house!)

I did let DC go in for a short time sometimes before an appointment as their attendance was low for various reasons that year and I wanted them to get the mark as the sixth form college took Y10 attendance into account when deciding on making offers for places. If there’s nothing like that I wouldn’t bother getting your DD to go back in.

ReachingOut8 · 12/01/2025 20:27

Yeah no one does that

In the OP's case I wouldn't send her back in, but in this instance I would. She'll be marked as "present" for the morning so her attendance figures won't be affected.

Ahh but if you send her in and she does registration she won’t get marked as absent for that session even if you take her out later!

Iwishiwasapolarbear · 12/01/2025 20:34

No it would be pointless. Also, if you’re orthodontist is anything like my sons, they could be running late anyway

NotGottaClue · 12/01/2025 20:35

No I wouldn't send her back.
Anything after 1.30pm I don't. It's not worth it for 1.5 hours

modgepodge · 13/01/2025 11:03

Yes I know about the attendance thing, it’s on my radar as she was sick (as in vomited) for 4 days in September meaning her attendance percentage was atrocious at the start of the year. However, as it is all authorised, I don’t think it matters, ie no chance of a fine? She’s 5 so Im not sure attendance percentage has any impact on her? (Unlike the poster above who was applying for sixth form and it mattered, for example.)

I probably should send her in to be fair, the first hour of the day is often the most productive with phonics and maths and stuff I assume.
